When Andy Robertson got relegated with Hull I couldn't have imagined what would happen next.

I reckon there are always some golden nuggets out there.

Of course. But are those three the game changers to lift us to being EPL and CL contenders again, which was sort of the claim?

It would be a start … throw in Dybling and pochettino in any capacity … you would be dreaming of all sorts.

Imagine reincarnating Ardiles, waddle, hoddle, greaves in some way now that would be realistic and probably make us champions on the galaxy as we take on Martians for the intergalactic trophy cup final.

I think he said "as a starter for ten" actually. He wasn't saying "final piece of the jigsaw".

I could genuinely see how Wharton, Eze and Mbuemo would elevate us to a new place actually. That is, assuming we see the younger lads fulfil their trajectories at the same time. It is also with the assumption that Frank can get the sum of the parts greater than the individual pieces.

He isn't, and that is what is worth discussing

As I said above, he usually does some version of the commercial success of the club is to improve investment in squad, to build on field success, he's never that specific. He literally said EL win is not enough, and we want to win PL/CL. He's by nature a conservative leader.

People are so busy bitching about fluff/PR/Levy still pulls strings that we are missing that conversation.

The only way we are in with any shot at PL/CL is with external investment, is it coming?

I think we could win the CL and PL in time, we'd have to be smarter about it than other clubs but it's not impossible. Different leagues but we've seen Dortmund, Inter and Atletico reach the final recently and once you're in the final anything can happen. Liverpool were nowhere a few years ago and won the CL but obviously spent a fair bit to do so. We've made it to the final and finished 2nd in the league, definitely possible to push a little more with the right squad and manager. We just have to accept that odds wise it's a little harder than for City and Liverpool etc.

We need to find consistency first though. Just the thought of EVERY Spurs eleven taking the field and being competitive is where it starts. After you have that plateau, then you naturally end up in a decent league position when you're Spurs. We have the investment, we have the players and hopefully we have the manager now that can make the sum of the parts all work together.

I'm actually getting excited again. I'd sort of lost belief in our ability to find any consistency over a number of games even at the start of last season when the wind was favourable.
