I was thinking about this. With our renowned heavily incentivised contracts, I wonder how much extra we'd be paying out in wages for player and managers contracts if we win the EL and also CL qualification and how that eats into the thought that succeeding in the EL was balancing out some of the merit payments we were losing thru a 16th/17th league place finish?
Given the amount of money at stake for league positions, I'd imagine there is some sort of clause in there that links bonuses to league position. Levy is famed for incentivising everything he can.

I think Lange has big credit in the bank for bringing in Gray, Bergvall and Kinsky. Maybe Odobert will show in time too.

Munn however seems to have hired a charlatan as coach, not fired the charlatan for a reason no one can explain, and screwed up our medical department. So pretty disastrous really.

Indulge me. How did Munn screw up our medical department? That did make me chuckle.

He's surely the one that has been fixing it.

We have had an injury crisis since the year dot. The fella who was with us for 20 years or so oversaw some of the worst mismanagement of injuries and decision making known to man

We didn't have major injuries through most of 2014-23 from what I can remember.

Kane's ankles were impact ones. Alder and Bentancur had long termers. Lamela obviously had a chronic hip condition, that eventually got fixed. But that's all that standouts over that decade. We never had muscular injuries.

The one exception is of course Winks - he was definitely mismanaged. But that's one of 60 or 70 odd players over that period.

Muscular injuries though come from the style and the load factor though, its not about mismanagement from the staff

How come we were a far better high pressing team under Poch, but never had muscular injuries then?

Less international summer tournaments, no Nations League rubbish, no World Cups in the middle of seasons to increase workload on players, no 'covid crunched tournaments' which suddenly end up seeing major tournaments back-to-back. I think the Euros being pushed a year to 2021 coupled with the Woerld Cup in winter of 2022, added to the extended seasons after covid saw the workload on top players become too much. I think we're seeing in the last two seasons just how bad that load has been.
