So they're going to pay for their tickets, pay for their pre-match and half time food and drink, then they're going to walk out at the point all avenues for them to spend more money have already closed?

I'll bet Levy's bricking it now.....

They are literally playing up to him and he wins.

If anything, depending how serious you think you are, just arrange for 3/4k not to attend for 2/3 games........full stop, yes pay your ST but don't sell it, don't do in, don't fill one pocket.

But I doubt they are really that serious

Another conversation that's been done to death but it's really a lack of understanding of how you negotiate at this level

- Even the opening statement is not well thought out, it reads more like a tantrum "enough is enough", stuck through thick and thin? really?
- As with all these groups, there is not even a hint of anything positive they would bring to the table
- There is no ask, so it's a protest for protest sake?

That could literally be 100% better

I honestly think a protest for protest sake is better than this though. Currently its protesting whilst wanting their cake and eating it.

Its hardly rogue

I'd take everything i've said about him being a poor footballing chairman back.

I thought they were massively overpaying and although I never thought Coutinho to be anywhere near as good as he was being made out to be at the time he was still a good player. 70m-80m odd would have been a fair price considering his form at the time.

It was great business on Liverpool's part to take that hot form and turn it into a massive profit and the basis for adding the final parts to make them a CL and League title winning side.

It's that sort of business I wish we did. I likewise always thought Dele and Eriksen rather overrated from Spurs fans and would have happily taken an inflated fee for them at their zeniths to reinvest and keep the team improving.

It's interesting reading this conversation and not even talking about PSG and the Qatari government. It was their insistence on paying the 222m euros for Neymar that even made this whole domino effect happen. Coutinho to Barca, Allison/VVD to Pool etc was all in this very strange set of transactions around 2017 and 2018. Barca wanted to appease the fans after losing Neymar and their number 1 target was Coutinho. So Liverpool basically named their price. So did Saints when Pool came knowing for VVD.

A very strange transfer market during that 2 year period. The better conversation is why we didn't get massive money for one of ours. They weren't signing new contracts (e.g. Toby, Eriksen etc) and we didn't catalyse our future by doing the same.

And that's the nuance most conversations miss

I think the point is that his stats dont correspond to the media label. He played an impressive 360 games for us. Only 3 seasons out of 11 were injury effected. The tag came mainly as his worse two seasons were 1996 and 1998, but in both he recovered just in time to star for England.

His stats are actually very comparable to Son's. The only difference is that Son's has been boosted by european appearances, whereas Anderton could only play domestic competitions. Basically he was one of our most consistent performers of the EPL era

There's definitely nuance to it and I'm not claiming Liverpool sold for xyz amount so therefore we must have been able to seel for the same amount but I do think we could have intelligently used the market and I say that because I've seen many clubs do it over the decades of watching European football. Sitting on your squad and letting it stagnate is guaranteed not to work and that's where we went wrong and where I'll never just accept that it had to be that way because it didn't.
