Email Hacked

El Guepardo

Rafael Van Der Vaart
Woke up this morning to find out that I had a series of returned email messages that I had never sent. I looked in the Draft folder and there was one there for the time that some of the returned messages were coming back. I also found strings of conversations in the account which date back to 6 months ago... other than change my email password, anyone have any suggestions for what I should do? And yes, this time I ensured that it was much more complicated.

Nope. not on Hotmail... I never use accounts on there these days, my account was a Yahoo one. I was concerned that people might visit sites, say that they didn't know the password, get email reminder and then change my passwords but, looking at a few recently used sites, that doesn't appear to have happened. :)

I will group email so people will know that it wasn't me. Was suspicious too that I had an email from myself, I think they primarily targeted my account last night.

I use Norton and, before recently, it's always proved to be efficient at dealing with any malicious attacks. I'm running a full system scan and reputation scan, hopefully if there is anything awry it will tell me.

Norton is brick as it is the best selling and therefore the most targeted anti virus going, Kaspersky all the way.

Once fell out with a mate who thought i was sending him emails about viagra pills (literally a couple of weeks after he had told me about not being able to get it up with his fair lady). Turned out to be a virus.

That happened to me last year. It was my BT account and I have Kaspersky protection. I just changed my password. I also received an email from a friend of mine a couple of years ago and could tell from the way it was written that it wasn't them and the account had been hacked, so didn't press the links. They are BT as well.

Same here. Yahoo account and I had to change my password about a year or more ago. Did a full scan and changed password and never had the problem again.
