What concerns me is how many people link articles from Twitter. That suggests people still use it!! Which means you are helping to fund this. In the old days if you popped into Whimpy and they served you a dog turd in a bun, beneath a poster saying 20% of your contribution was going to Pol Pot's latest genocide efforts, you tended to not head back. It seems a bit more nuanced in the modern era.
I have no doubt there are but if everyone who despises their actions and endorsements had simply switched off it would have sent the right message. Not just to Musk, his cronies but to the advertisers. Instead, many left but didn't delete their accounts, many stayed because 'they enjoyed it' or had cultivated a following and alas that apathy is what he counted on. Hard to blame someone desperate to pick up an old Model S with the lifetime charging and good batteries in the current climate. Starlink for many is sadly, almost a necessity but I'm gonna refrain from buying into fascism and ensure I'm not supporting any of these creatures. There’s still many good journalists active on Twitter, perhaps when I find the time to set up a BlueSky (or whatever the non-fascist equivalent to TrustSocial is) and can re-follow all the good folk that I’ve been reading tweets from over the past 17 years then I’ll abandon it but the revenue Musk makes from X is a drop in the ocean compared to the $billions he’s accruing from his Tesla takeover (saddens me to see so many of those still on the roads), SpaceX and Starlink
