Eberechi Eze

For me it was clear he was always going to Arsenal and if the reporting is correct that Arsenal have casually waited for us to negotiate the fee with Palace and then just whacked in *just slightly better* across all aspects of the deal, we've had our pants pulled down by them convincing us to seriously expend our energy on this.

Similar to what was reported to have happened with Neto - and what happened to Brentford when trying to buy Gray

So… anyone think we could sway Marinakis with £80m?!
Why?
Honestly we can get other players in
Simons is available… loved him before his injury
Akliouche is set to explode it seems but IMO form the very little I’ve seen won’t work on the left
There is the lad form Leicester whose name I can’t spell
There are many players we can get for the money we clearly were happy to spend here ans MGW ans is guess players that really wanna come here

I didn't denigrate you or your answer whatsoever bud .. I'm just stating what I believe are the very likely facts . None of us know really what's going on do we . Can we virtually hug and make up now . We all suffer the pain called Tottenham together and need no further conflict perceived or real in our life's ... I will even show you my spurs tattoo ?

Always my friend 😍

I 'think' it was a joke (no source on that one just speculation on my part ;-) )

Firstly, happy birthday Bedford. Hope the Eze meltdown isn't impacting the b'day drinks too much?

My take on it is that when we started the summer I was thinking Eze would end up at Gooners. He is a lifelong fan and the time is right for him to go and operate at the next level. I was pleasantly surprised our primary target was MGW and feel more gutted he didn't join us. It's not as if we didn't send the message to Eze that he wasn't our first choice. We absolutely did.

So my view on this window is that we haven't changed the club's culture on how to manage transfer windows. We've bought a seemingly great player in Kudus, and we've opted for another young centre half in Takai. Everything else we've achieved in the summer including Sonny is pretty much table stakes business including the Tel/Danso conversions and the Palhinha loan.

I would say we have 50% of our business (including outgoings) to do in the last 10 days. This is very normal under this regime unfortunately.

Very fair assessment.

I was hoping for a step change window, that proved changes had been made so that we could aggressively conclude our business and compete at the real top end. Your articulation of the fact that beyond Kudus everyone has really been table stakes for how we’ve always done things is spot on. The numbers are a bit bigger, but the ‘so near yet so far’ aspect of our deal making is still there.

I hope @thfcsteff is right. If we really have alternative options, and actually one or two that are much more suited to Frank than Eze, then I’m willing to wait until the end of the window before passing final judgement. With that said, I agree that we should never have let it get so public. The fact that it’s happened twice now is just bizarre.

And even if we do sign someone younger that is more suited to Frank, there was something so exciting about signing a proven, classy flair player like Eze that would need no adaptation and would perform right now. It’s a great signing for Arsenal if it goes through.

He is exactly what they need
That’s the gutting part
He will hide the fact that Gykores will need a lot of time to get up to speed
And he plays the game at his pace which I love .. although it may not have suited Frank
We will IMO get a top player in. If may not be a name that everyone says wow… but all the 10s we have been linked with IMO would be great additions

The player staling the deal… bull
We will now buy a better player… bull

Arsenal used 8h, Spurs tried it in 11days
We f@&€ up again and again!
I dont whant to say it but fck I hope he…….

Chilled today
Went to a place called Pu du Fou yesterday
No idea where home is for you but this place was unreal .. I mean fudging unreal
We have universal being built 3 miles from my house (I’ve been talking to them about a job) and if it’s half as good as what I saw yesterday then wow
Is recommend people come to France just to see this as it’s barely know outside of France and I can see what it’s won so many awards
Shall check it out and if I like shall put it on the list! Thanks 😊

Honestly can't say I'm that despondent, I know a lot of people on here rate him so I would have happily taken him, but for me he has always looked like a slightly higher than palace level player and I'm not convinced he would have stepped up.
Certainly not to meet the expectations of him that have grown a lot over the last few weeks.

Lot of this is happening in this thread.
I think its less about that and missing out on players its literally how public and amateur-hour the club is. We've embarrassed ourselves twice in this window in big public attempts. Levy says he wants to win the league and the CL yet we are into a new season and less than 2 weeks from the transfer window closing and a new manager is having to play an 18 year old no. 8 as our starting no. 10 and a right back at left back. I think we are entitled to be f**ked off.

I have failed as a Dad as my wife has bought my son a Gooner shirt. Alas, I am no more guys. I bid you a fond farewell as this is the last I can do for my beloved Spurs, as they (Levy) have failed us. I am going now and this is my last ever post.

I have moved home, my Spurs man cave is no more, I will not build a Spurs man cave, and it is my last year as a ST holder. with all games being sold. Levy will not get one more penny out of me or my family other than what he has got from my St this year and I will let my son support a team that backs their fans and fights for titles.

If it means I go and watch them and end up supporting my son and his team then so be it, but that is Levy's fault not mine.

I wish you all the very very best and I do hope you win more trophies, but I am now finally out from the evil that is Tottenham Hotspur FC.

Whilst some will most likely say good riddance, I do hope you somehow understand my decision to not follow Spurs anymore.

It is only because this is the lowest blow, more so than when Sol left us. and I want no part in this feeling or club ever again.

Adios,

Always yours

Daveeeeeeed aka GGG
