Djed Spence

I think RDZ likes him from comments, but its about him wanting games, at 26 you can understand why that is TBH, he isn't going to get RB and despite the whole LB thing he was never that before and I suspect the hybrid thing doesn't work for him long term. I think its alot for people to expect someone who sees themselves as a career RB to stick around to maybe play LB hahaa.

All in all we will reinvest you hope and we get another talent in who is happy with the terms and move up in club
Another thing to consider is if he does stay he will be expecting a bumper pay rise, will the club really want to do that for a back up player?

Would be gutted if we sell him, because I love his story, his perseverance, his attitude, his personality shining through more, his character with England.

But I get it if he wants to leave and doesn’t want to play back up to Porro in a season with no Europe.

My question then is, who do we sign to replace him? Who is willing to come in and play back up to Porro? Because we know full well that we sell Djed and Porro is absolutely getting injured. Gray at right back is surely not enough cover.

Young talent would be the obvious answer. Find the next Udogie (RB version, and one that stays fit, obviously).

Data pick for someone under 21 in Europe that has at least 1-2 full seasons in a decent league, sub 15M, what we used to do.

I think we should get rid because he’s the wrong skin tone, apparently bad attitude and believes that a 60 man taking a fancy off a 9 year old is the best example to humanity …

The amount of brick people throw in to transfers is hilarious.

I think if he is a saleable asset that’s not needed by the manager then cash in and reinvest. No point in keeping a player unhappy that is not fancied by the manager.

I’d tend to agree if we were getting a decent fee. We’re just not. The cost to replace what Spence brings to the squad is more than £25M.

Definitely feels that this one is going to happen. I'll be sorry to see him go but if he's looking to pin down a starting berth somewhere I can't really blame him.

Short term call
But I suspect the player is leading the move as it’s a great fit for him

This, people keep glossing over this.

Spence clearly wants out, he's 26, his profile is highest, Porro extended, no European football (no extra games), don't think it's a coincidence the bid is from Italy (he's played there before, so obviously comfortable).

Club is both doing the right thing re having committed players, and also the right thing by those players by letting them go (important that players see us as both a destination and a path). Put a good sell on clause, let him go, buy a youth prospect as backup, move on.

Others players have wanted out this summer and get fit good fees.

Leave it till next summer when we've got time/resource/non-HG space to recruit a suitable replacement

It's insane, we've screwed Udogie over for 3 years having no rotation for him. Now we have 4 LBs, and are going to leave Porro completely exposed to injury and exhaustion.

This feels cheap and creates more problems. Very capable at covering right back and left back, very quick and durable.

I can only think that there's something about him that RDZ doesn't like or he's pushing really hard for a move and becoming a problem.

If it helps RDZ get the forward that he wants/needs then perhaps it's a necessary evil
But does seem a shame

He's only played 12 games at right back for Spurs in the PL

So the right back argument seems overcooked.
