Daniel Levy - Former Chairman

It wasn’t just Hoddle.

Didn’t Robbie Keane say the same thing, when he was working with his agent’s agency at the time?

It doesn't really matter who says it. It's the start sh itting or get off the pot conundrum.

They all want to sound smart and undermine Poch, yet none of of them are brave enough to name names.

My view in 2018 was that I would have like to seen us buy a couple of fantastic U21s. I fully understand we couldn't get A-list elite stars. That was the pattern with Levy and that recruitment setup for years. It was all hot air from them. However, they could have switched strategy and invested for the future. Poch was fantastic of his nurturing of Kane, Dele, Walker, Rose, Winksy etc. They should have been looking for that profile so we didn't end up empty handed.

We were never going to replace those players like for like, we probably had 7 of the best 11 players in the world in their positions at the time, the issue isn’t that we didn’t replace them, it’s that that group didn’t win anything.
This was Levy's plan all along. Assemble a manager and a group of players who were nearly good enough. And if they looked like they might (GHod forbid) win something, he had a backup; buy them all engraved watches.

Gas. If you think we had the 7 best players in their positions you need to see a optician. 🤣
And Ndombele and Lo Celso.
If he had gotten Wijnaldum we would have never gone for Ndombele. If we had gotten Fernandes (as he wanted) we wouldn't have gone for Lo Celso. Both are cases of not getting the ideal choice and having to find an alternative.
