The rumours have been circling for some time. I think it was Sam Mokbai who essentially said the same on Five Live. People have been whispering about this moment yet no-one was quite sure when. I think when Peter Charrington came in last March it was under the radar. Vinai certainly wasn't. Neither was the departure of Donna....the signs have been there but subtle. Little things, like Vinai being in the Romero new contract video, perhaps even his immediate presence media-wise. It offers the interesting question as to whether the Lewis family will want a couple of years or so investing more money into the playing side of the club to see where it can go, or whether they want to sell soon and this makes that easier as it will be a 'clean slate' for whomever would buy? I am guessing here, but I'd say it is the former however with the caveat that IF a situation or opportunity arises that is felt too good to turn down, then it can be quickly acted upon.

I think it is easy to criticize.
Personally, I see it as a moment to recognize what he has done for this club versus what he didn't, and to further realise he did HIS best which is not always aligned with what supporters want (I include myself).

I hope people take the time to remember all the tremendous work Levy has done off the pitch. He has made mistakes with footballing decisions, however nobody should deny that he has been the best business-based chairman in football over the last 30 years. For signs of how wrong a big club can get it, look at Man Utd.

Finally, the Lewis family are doubtless very grateful for his work. He has made us one of the biggest clubs globally, punching way above our weight when measured against on-pitch successes. The stadium will always be his legacy, and it is to his huge credit that he worked so hard to incorporate so many elements of the Lane in it...

The time is right for this moment, so thank you for all you did do Daniel Levy, and perhaps now we march on and enjoy the on-pitch success we crave...

I don't think that a manager not smashing it everywhere else precludes their working well at another club. Poch knew how to get a tune out of a Levy sponsored team, and it's unlikely we will now become more conservative in our approach to spending, which would likely give him more quality second time around in the squad (if not the first eleven which was exceptional).

All that being said, I don't believe that an appointment like Thomas Frank should be allowed to fit into the 2 year and refresh model favoured by Levy. We need to give him 5 years at the helm, to sculpt a team and develop our youngsters.
 
Interesting times but don't see a stand or anything else being named after Levy , it's not something the club has ever gone in for apart from Billy Nick gates.
He has stepped down/pushed but still has an interest in just under 30% of ENIC Sports Inc the club owners through his family trust, fascinating to see where we go from here. And is Paratici still coming back , Levy was a big supporter of him

Charrington in for Levy without the VV appointment, I would say it’s likely that we sell. As it is though, I think it’s just a new era and we say thank you Daniel for all that he did.

VV is a very exchangable PR worth CEO though so could stay under new owners, might even look a massive reason for owners to keep.

Charington could be here to examine, streamline and make the books and club look even more joined up and attractive to buyers.

The idea that the kids have gone all gooey for the club and not on their inheritance is alot less believable than a likely sale.......considering the company that the shares are in IS still an investment company

Sacks is a macaron, he has monetised the Levy era and done well out of it, he should be thanking the guy

Liverpool and Arsenal haven’t cheated, they’ve been more successful. How have United cheated? They’ve also clearly been more successful.

Numerous clubs in other clubs in Europe too.
 
Who are people going to blame now?
Sad day I think, but maybe some will see now that blaming everything on one man, maybe isn't quite right. We'll see. I don't expect much will change because of this.

Yeah…I don’t buy that the kids have suddenly taken an interest. I guess maybe there is a fair argument that with Pops stepping back, they can now exert their authority a bit more, and can bring fresh ideas on how to maximise their investment in Spurs. But it’s also clear that ENIC created the constraints Daniel operated under.

I think the truth is just that in the same way that Daniel has had tough conversations with managers and told them they’ve been great for a period, but aren’t the right one to take us forward, the same thing just happened to him.

I truly believe he was an excellent Chairman, arguably the best there was, taking into account on and off pitch progress from the position we started. But something needed to change if we were ever going to truly compete for the title. And something probably needed to change if we didn’t want our top 6 position to be under threat too. I think this summer we made a lot of changes in personnel and approach, and it shows what is possible. The difficulty in having so much power concentrated in him just meant it was difficult to truly change how we worked as a club, no matter what Football Executive he brought in.

The irony being arsenal certainly haven't done it and the trophy haul for Liverpool in comparison to their heyday isn't that great.
City and Chelsea have changed the landscape so much that even powerhouse clubs like Liverpool and utd are struggling to win the big trophies.
If you had said during Ferguson and wenger eras that over the next decade arsenal, utd and Liverpool would win two titles between them over the next decade you'd have been laughed at.

Arsenal are clearly further down the road than us and certainly were not like this after the rebuild which people like to gloss over and Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in PL history. So yeh we could have done ALOT more, no one denies that, but comparisons to those two clubs come with faults in the reckoning IMO. Just like some never want to compare to Uniteds current plight because "if thats the standard then.............blah blah blah"

I mean we can always compare ourselves against the best, I suppose its a benchmark for greatness, but you need to take a wider view to be honest about who we are as a club and the facts are, well at least as I see it, we have never been as bad as the meltdowns suggest
