Daniel Levy - Chairman

Yes but havertz wouldn't have been injured.
Didn’t Arsenal already have an agreement with Palace and Eze from earlier in the window and Arsenal just put it on ice? Wasn’t we all under the impression they needed to sell to sign Eze and then we got involved and it was now or never? They will make a sale or 2 by the end of the window which will balance the books for the Eze buy. IMO they were always going to sign him this window.

Thought they dropped the interest to go after gyorkeres.

It's rumour. We'll probably never know the truth.

Hahah yeh i roostered up....here comes the edit (that's not an album)
I wasn't sure, I vaguely remember bopping along to it in my white van back in the 90s. I'm vaguely familiar with the cure but have no clue about the cult so wanted to check if the old brain cells were playing tricks on me.

Kudus, johnson...

There is a pecking order though. If cuty, arsenal, chelsea, liverpool were in for any of them we'd have probably missed out.

The problem is we should move faster to get the deals done.

Isn't it in the interest of the selling club to stretch it out to see if someone else comes in to buy? When I was working I never signed a contract without negotiation and had as many offers as I could get.

Unless you miss out on the deal. If the buyer says this is my highest offer take it or leave it. Then it's up to the seller to take the deal or not.
As a buyer you should never have just one option.

Is it history repeating itself though?

Let’s look at the last few attempts on Eze level players.

Proven PL performers at lower clubs.

Solanke, Maddison, Bissouma, Richarlison.

We get more done than we don’t.
sounds brutal but it feels like top tier players won't choose spurs
winning europa is not good enough

We, nor any off the shysters on social media know what Tottenham are doing or have plans for if a deal cannot be brokered, but I certainly feel we have alternative targets for some players, it wouldn't seem reasonable to be negotiating with other clubs while going for our primary choice as we might be considered timewasters if nothing comes of it.

Im taking top 7 as progress. Squad needs some exit surgery, we also need to evaluate loads of the youth this year..

From 17th to say 6th. With some squad work with a view to next year. I'm ok with that. We ain't going to be Arsenal and a billion deep into the project and back to back 2nds, so I don't see why people cry that we aint....
I'm quite happy with a EL place....as we'd tinkle it again next season.

You sound out deals. Find out what price range.
You don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Isn't that what paratici allegedly does?

Part of how Arsenal got there was good long term thinking and planning. Like signing Saliba and loaning him out for a couple of years until he was ready. Developing players. Some "squad fillers".

We're imo some way down a similar trajectory. Need to keep that up, don't panic, don't just buy someone because they're good and we have money. Have a list of several good targets that make sense short and long term.
Can't we get all that done by the end of the week?

It is an interesting discussion because there are two truths. Yes, we get deals done, but when it comes to potentially transformative players - or instant ‘difference makers’ - we rarely get the deals across the line. I think it’s fair to say that Eze is a difference maker when put against Biss.
Whenever we dangle a leg for a ‘big big’ signing, it is rare we get it across the line. We have, as many have said, made some excellent signings, but I’m thinking of this specific area. The Brunos, the Dybalas, the Diaz’s, the Ezes even. I understand that there are many nuances, but there also appears to be denominator, that we will only ever go ‘so far’ - and that if we do achieve an ‘accord’ we will then try to squeeze a little more. With Eze, I am still baffled that we didn’t either get the deal done earlier or not go there after all. We ended up at the same figure as the release clause; if we were seriously interested, why did we not just put that money down in the first place? Then if the goons had come in it would’ve forced an answer. Instead, it looks to me like we left the door ajar. FWIW I don’t believe that Eze ‘called Arteta Wed AM and asked if he wanted him’. More like they’ll have talked before and the agents involved would’ve dealt with Palace and the goons. I am guessing more like the goons get wind of this injury, ask Palace if the ink is dry, Palace say the pen hasn’t come out yet, goons say ‘can you wait an hour’ and there it is…anyway, long-winded there but it is an interesting discussion. There are no absolutes I agree, not with transfers, not with Daniel either, good and bad in all areas…like life!

I clearly don't rate Eze as highly as you do.

Also, I'd say the output from Fernandes and Dybala (in his remaining time at Juve), since the reported approaches, puts them both in the bullet dodged category.
