My view is simple. Either get a good offer for Cuti or keep him at the club.

Take a look at Pep's winning model with centre halves that led to trophies. I know everyone is bigging up John Stones but we should ask that player what it felt like to be England's best centre half and sitting on the bench for Pep. Ask him about his manager getting 4 or 5 centre halves on the pitch at the same time and the fun he had stepping into the midfield role. Stones only appeared more than 40 times once in a decade of seasons for Pep. That depth is what Spurs should be craving for in a key position.

I almost feel like Spurs fans have some sort of inferiority complex that we can't buy JPvH and keep Romero. In some fans minds, we're clearly not a big enough club to keep those 2 plus Danso happy. I think we need to throw those thoughts away personally.

Porro, Spence, Romero, VDV, JpVH, Senesi, Danso, Udogie, Robbo

That is almost a title winning defensive squad in quality. A couple of weaker links but there is the opportunity to push centre halves to full back or push them up into midfield like Pep did.

If we had Europe I’d agree with you, I just don’t think there’s enough games this season though. I also think Vinai would quite like the money…

Its not that. In the long term that is what we should be going and hearing De Zerbi's comments about squad strength and size that will be his ultimate goal. We as in the club just don't want him to be here anymore and what we are willing to accept to make that happen is seemingly lower than what the fan base thinks we should accept.

That's just how it is sometimes. I'm sure you've had situations where a friend has been selling something or letting it go for a value less than what you perceived it to be worth but the owner values it for less because they know it's plus and minuses and has decided it's just time to move on.

We aren't moving him on because we can't keep him, we're moving him on because we don't want him anymore. The club have decided it's the end of that chapter, book closed, so let's gets something in for him and keep it moving. It's a dispassionate way of doing transfer business and an approach I've felt we've needed for a couple of decades now.

Main thing is we don't take a massive hit on him, removing his wages (taken by Tonali already) and getting £35 million in to move him early suits the club.
 
€40 is not most on here would have hoped for but I suppose the club needs to balance the books. I am quite sure it will become another stalemate if Levy is still in charge and we will end up getting nothing or very little when he leaves, which is an improvement. I think we may also need to cut our loss with Vicario.

I think we are moving with what and how the market is moving. There are some very real things happening in Europe with finances which have been spoken about on here for a couple of day, Stones going for a free two days after I said clubs are patching up their sides with frees showing that. There has to be some realism on what money is out there on the continent compared to the PL.

Given how clubs now look at their finances, getting our money back on a player who has been with us for the number of years he has and removing the wages is absolutely fine
 
It’s a sale that needed to happen to suit all parties. Good luck to him, pace of the game in Italy may be to his benefit. Inter have got the better of the deal but his time here had to come to an end and they’ve capitalised on that. Onwards and upwards
