Cristian Romero

he is as impulsive on the pitch as he is on social media.
not sure if management will take kindly to his firebrand style - we seem to want to accumulate the good natured sort only and handle things behind closed doors

Cristian Romero keeps calling out the Tottenham hierarchy and has the fans in his corner

Spurs captain’s Instagram posts have struck a chord with supporters and it has almost made himself bomb proof

small clip ..

The problem for Tottenham is that Romero – with his ability to galvanise on the pitch and his willingness to express the anger of many fans off it – has almost made himself bomb proof. That was underlined when the 27-year-old escaped punishment for last month’s social media rant in which he accused “people” at the club of only showing up when things are going well and “to tell a few lies.”

Romero later edited the post to remove the accusation of lies and the matter was supposedly dealt with in a chat with Frank and sporting director Johan Lange.
Any doubt that the authority of Frank and Lange was undermined by that episode was completely extinguished by Romero’s latest outburst on Monday night that surely had Spurs insiders rolling their eyes while supporters punched the air in delight and agreement. A number of his team-mates added ‘likes’ underneath the post.
Given the dissatisfaction over Tottenham’s perceived lack of action in the transfer window to try to rescue a dismal Premier League season, there is every chance that fans travelling to Old Trafford for Saturday’s re-run of the Europa League final against United will sing ‘Romero’s right, the board are s---e’.

Stats tell an interesting story, our numbers with/without him are almost no difference (0.07 PPG)

Lange was in charge of transfers when we signed VDV and Danso so his record there with CBs is pretty decent

The 'committee' wanted Tapsoba in that window. It was Postecoglu who insisted on VDV.
Danso was an excellent pick-up I must say, one I certainly never saw coming (his freak injury is a big big loss for us right now).

Vuskovic, Danso and Phillips should be able to keep us circling the drain again next year, if we pull off staying up this year

If Phillips is ever going to get a chance to show he has something, it would be in a Frank-Spurs where speed is not of the essence. I think as a pure defender he's pretty decent. Dorrington is another. Of course neither are where we should be aiming, but I agree they're decent enough to be trusted off the bench you'd think.

He'll be leaving Tottenham in June for the US and World Cup. I think we'll struggle to keep him if I'm honest...I also do begin to wonder exactly what happened at HT last weekend. Illness? He was apparently ill in Frankfurt? doesn't look 'at the door' here, albeit I wouldn't argue that I am having a chill day/eve and am allowing weirdo football conspiracies to waft into the mix...

BTW, I love that he keeps speaking out AND think the club have to show some cajoles/structure and fine him, as otherwise they are absolutely allowing an inmate to run the asylum (which whether you like the message or not is not healthy)...

Ange spoke about how transfers were done, a shortlist was identified and drawn up by the club and then they would work together to whittle it down and narrow in on a primary target.

I remember there being discussion on here at the time that VDV was the club cheaping out rather than going for Tapsoba
