Cristian Romero

i am hoping it was just the same sort of fatigue plus late knock that he suffered last weekend (when he asked to be subbed late and was ignored).
Why, he's 10 yards away from any attacker on the first goal, second goal he misses both the man and ball, gets totally done and strolls back leaving everyone else to deal with his fudge up.
I really don't understand the adoration this guy gets.

He went down after kicking out at the hoardings didnt he?

If so that would be madness.

I think the issue with him is that due to having no real attacking patterns or plans, he takes it on himself to go forward and do what seemingly few others can do -score somehow.
I think he is an outstanding talent who needs to be in a properly managed football team where he has clear, specific instructions. At this point he is almost being allowed to do what he thinks is necessary, and that is dangerous.
I wholly agreed with his outburst a few weeks back and also thought it was weak of the club not to fine him wages for 'breaking boundaries'. It set a poor precedent.
However talented the inmates are, they cannot run the asylum!!!!

Romero is the best player in our squad. (I know that says a lot more about our squad, than it does about Romero).

But he's playing his heart out on the pitch...and whilst he continues to do that, and no one else comes closer to showing that level of passion... he's the G for me.
I'm not hearing a bad word against him for now.

His issues are with his defending. Deeper than every other defender for the first goal playing everyone onside. Second goal charges out leaving a big gap behind him that Burnley exploit to score. It's not like that's the first time either. He's cost us several goals this season with the same mistake.
He might be talented but he is not a team player, or a good defender, and his concentration is poor.

I think he is absolutely a team player, however I think he needs very clear guidelines from the coaches. When with Argentina he locks in perfectly and isn't quite as 'attacking' either because there is neither the need or expectancy. Unfortunately, he is judge and jury for us, being our best passer and (at this rate) one of our best goalscorer. I agree he has cost us several goals this season due to concentration moments/being out of position, but I still believe the problem lies in what we are (or aren't) doing coaching-wise. I don't think (from memory) he made nearly as many mistakes under Conte? Albeit I believe they fell out?
