Cristian Romero

That is the main reason i do not read a match thread during a game. Always full of it.
To be fair, playing alongside Romero was probably almost as big a nightmare for CCV as playing alongside CCV was for Romero tonight! :D

Something that tonight indicated to me is that Romero is either going to have to play as part of a back three all season or play with a partner with brilliant positional sense who can drop off and cover him.

On the flip side of that his one on one defending is very good indeed. I wonder whether Nuno might look to play him a little like Biesla plays KOch at Leeds

I’d say …. That of the players we have Sanchez dropping off him is a possibility
He played tonight exactly how he played at Atlanta
The issue for us was no one around him knew how he played of course

He played brick, what do you want me to do claim he had a worldy? You lot really do get touchy on here when someone expresses an opinion that you don’t agree with.

His debut or not that was not even a bang average game it was clumsy and a shocker. Foyth was getting ripped apart and his was a premier league game.

If you had said i thought he had a bad game, no one would have called you on it or argued. But you didn't, you made a prediction that he would be a sanchez mark 2. Basically that he would be a failure. Based on one game.

Thought he did fine. As expected a lot of aggression, mostly tidy on the ball with some moments where he tried to be more adventurous and looked fairly good.

Can't put the goal on him imo. Mostly defended well I thought, even though opposition wasn't all that so difficult to judge.

Will be interesting to see if he starts against Wolves.

Is he suited to a back 2?
Or are we gonna be lumbered with playing wing backs with no decent right wing back option in the squad.
And a load of wide players in Gil, Lucas and Bergwijn who wont really work in a front 2.

The goal in the first half was the light bulb moment for him when he realised he couldn't count on CCV, the second half he seemed to spend most of his time covering both positions and there were a few times he showed a fair turn of pace.

I am now worried for Cuti. I can't think of any recent major signings that has worked well for Spurs since Eriksen. It has often been a miss rather than a hit on expensive transfers.

Eriksen was not even a major transfer. If I remember well he was the last buy of the magnificent 7, a day or two from the deadline - and only for some 11 million.
