Champions League 25/26

Last minute winner for Carrier Bag, Frankfurt cant qualify now. Hopefully thats a bonus for us.

Also Atletico Madrid draw at Galatasary means we can only drop to 6th at worst tonight
Yeah good set of early results, Galatasary only drawing also means that they can’t catch us next week.

Is there any scenario where results from tonight would mean we only need a point for top 8 I wonder... that would be nice.

Saying that, I'd love to go over there and do them again, megaphone weirdos.

Thats what I might have a gander at later once all the results are known. With us on 14pts with a good GD anybody on 11pts or less after tonight is out of the equation.

As it stands I think only 9th 10th and 11th could catch us, but Chelsea, Toon and Barca are on 10pts and still have to play tonight so I doubt 1pt would secure a Top 8 finish.

Looks like we cant gamble on a point being enough next week.

Think we will finish the night in 5th on 14pts. We have 7 teams on 13pts and Inter on 12pts with a slightly worse GD than ours. 2 of the 7 play each other so both cant overhaul, but that still means if results went the wrong way we could finish well outside the Top 8

On the flip side, Inter are at Dortmund, Cheslea go to Napoli, Sporting go to Bilbao, and PSG play Saudi Sportswashing Machine, some may well draw, but sadly I dont see 5 of the teams sat 6th-13th dropping points.

I have ruled Juventus out of the equation as they would need to beat Monaco away by 4 or 5 goals to be a threat to us

edit: Chelsea just joined the 7 teams on 13pts with a late winner. So I think that rules out 1pt being enough cant see all these drawing

I have to say this league format has its benefits, I think in every game next week there is a team that still has something to play for either Top 8 finish or Play-off spot (even Pafos v Prague)

Just having a brief look...it's fudging annoying that PSG and Saudi Sportswashing Machine could draw in their final game against each other and both leapfrog us if we lose due to goal difference

Top 8 is a huge plus but there are other benefits too right? Not just skipping the play offs but avoiding the other 7 top sides and 2nd legs at home or something right?

If we did manage to finish in top 8 there will be some obscure rule which allows Woolwich to play their 2nd leg at home and with us away on a Tuesday after playing a long distance away PL game on Sunday evening.

Frankfurt are currently in a run of very poor form much like ouselves, with only one win in their last 10 games (all competitions).

But need to remember we are Spurs. We absolutely DARE NOT hope for a win there. It is totally and utterly verboten.

Had not noticed how well the English clubs were doing.

Five clubs in the top eight with City in 11th.

It’s going to be hard to knock us off that perch.

Yeah, if we go through, I think we can progress pretty far as long as we avoid English teams and the European big guns. The difference in quality really is that big from the PL and the next best teams in the other big European leagues.

Definitely will need the win in Frankfurt there are too many permutations and teams who can knock us out of the top 8.
With nothing to play for apart from a bit of prize money and they lie just outside of the Euro places in the Bundesliga will they field a weakened team to concentrate on their next league match against Leverkusen who are a place above them in the league. ?
