Champions League 25/26: Dortmund, PSG, Villarreal, Frankfurt, Slavia, Bodø/Glimt, Copenhagen, Monaco

Next desicion is the squad for the round of 16 which is in March , we had 22 on the original A list shown below which I assume is still our numbers limit. We can register three new players , Gallaher in place of Johnson is guaranteed but which injured players do we leave out as Kudus, Bergvall and Davies are unlikely to be available until the quarters if their recovery goes to plan , might as well leave Bentancur out probably not back until May. Squad has to be named end of next week.

1 Guglielmo Vicario
2 Kevin Danso
3 Joao Palhinha
4 Xavi Simons
5 Richarlison (end of Feb)
6 Destiny Udogie
7 Archie Gray
8 Lucas Bergvall (mid Apr)
9 Cristian Romero
10 Dominic Solanke
11 Mohammed Kudus (mid Apr)
12 Brennan Johnson (transferred)
13 Pedro Porro (end of Feb)
14 Djed Spence
15 Wilson Odobert
16 Pape Matar Sarr
17 Rodrigo Bentancur (early May)
18 Antonin Kinsky
19 Ben Davies (midApr)
20 Micky van de Ven
21 Randal Kolo Muani
22 Brandon Austin

No Kulu … is there no chance of him coming back by then? He’s been a big loss for sure. Starting to forget he exists.
Edit: Sorry I misinterpreted your list. Didn’t read properly!

This chant is really bugging me as it doesn’t scan without leaving out a word. Should be “We’re off to Budapest”.
(Lovely that this is my only gripe! Who would have thought we’d finish 4th.).

If you say 'going to' in a proper London way it works

"We're gowinta Budapest'

Edit :

More like "we're ga'nto Budapest"

Re Kulu , the website I had a look at and no idea how accurate they are doesn't give a date for Kulu which is strange, if he is fit by March would have thought he would be one of the three new additions.

Playoff round draw:

Monaco vs. Paris Saint-Germain
Galatasaray vs. Juventus
Benfica vs. Real Madrid
Borussia Dortmund vs. Atalanta
Qarabag vs. Saudi Sportswashing Machine
Club Brugge vs. Atletico Madrid
Bodo/Glimt vs. Inter Milan
Olympiacos vs. Bayer Leverkusen

Do you know when we find out which of the ties we play the winner of (i know it's between two)? Or will it be drawn after this round?

The next dates to keep an eye on are then the first leg fixtures on 17-18 February followed by the second leg on 24-25 February.

Following that, the round of 16, quarter-final and semi-final draws will then all happen on Friday 27 February to determine which pathway (silver/blue) we are on, before the last-16 ties take place across 10-11 and 17-18 March.

After finishing fourth in the league phase table, we will be given a home second leg for the last 16 - and quarter-finals should we progress - due a new rule introduced this season for the top four positions.

Cheers - seems silly to do a partial future draw in this way, what benefit is there to narrowing it down to the outcome of two games? If it was one you could take a risk on booking flights

4th place, not too shabby for a team who got put in Pot 3....
It's a good achievement and beyond what I expected but I think we need to remain grounded.

The fixtures were kind to us. We got 4 teams that finished in the bottom 6 (Villarreal 35th, Frankfurt 33rd, Prague 34th, Copenhagen 31st). Of the other 4 games, we won 1 (Dortmund 17th), drew 2 (Monaco 21st & Bodo 23rd) and lost 1 (PSG 11th).

We've done well, the last two performances were very good but the Premier League is probably a better barometer of where we are as a club.

Yes, but two things

- The draw is always part of cup competitions
- Bodo and Copenhagen are two perfect examples, teams that people would say are brick and easy wins, except they both got results and made life very difficult for good teams.

Our physicality and the pace of European games will mean we typically look better in Europe vs. PL (where it doesn't stand out). The barometer is probably somewhere in the middle of the two standings

Deki has a complicated injury.

No dates will be given as progress is hard to predict and certainly not linear (compared to more common injuries).

We are currently in the waiting period to judge the effects of an injection he received with the hope it might settle things down. (ie pain)
