I don’t agree it’s a stupid rule, I think the celebration itself is stupid and deserves a card. Why is taking yourvshirt off to celebrate even a thing? Just bizarre. It's a stupid rule, TBH.
But he should know better.
Agreed about the players. They should know the rules well enough, so those yellows are still on them.I don’t agree it’s a stupid rule, I think the celebration itself is stupid and deserves a card. Why is taking yourvshirt off to celebrate even a thing? Just bizarre.
Everyone’s known that rule for years, if players are still doing it it’s all on them.

However; this rule is basically penalising a celebration, and it's not even a remotely controversial or offensive celebration for most people. It also has no impact on the game. Yes, it might take a bit more time to put on the shirt again or whatever, but that's what added time is for.
As for the celebration being stupid; it's far down the list of stupid goal celebrations for me, but that's my subjective opinion of course. And respectfully that's not really an agrument in favour of the rule either.
maybe they should just find a formula to dock the player's salary as a refund to the shirt sponsors thenIt's because of shirt sponsors. They pay tens of millions of pounds to have their name on the shirts. When a player scores those pictures are what will be put in the papers. They want people to see their logo.

But is it principally right to let commercial interests decide what is and isn't accepted behaviour on the pitch? There's a big, theoretical can of worms here. Obviously football is already probably 90 % commerce/business and 10 % sports, so no real surprise, but it doesn't make the rule more stupid in my eyes. It's because of shirt sponsors. Sponsorships help pay for the running of the game. Refs, linesmen, stewards all have to be paid as do players and managers. But is it principally right to let commercial interests decide what is and isn't accepted behaviour on the pitch? If people think the rules are stupid. That's up to them. The rule is there for a reason though and it won't be changed anytime soon. So it's up to the players. If they think that taking their shirt off is worth a booking, that's what they'll get.
I've never had the urge to rip of my clothes to celebrate anything, and I honestly cannot fathom why anyone else would either. It's utterly stupid. The reason the rule came about was that players had all sorts of messages written on the shirt under their kit, and it's unnecessary time wasting and it's fuxking stupid. The rules also state that all players must wear their kit at all times when on the playing field during the game. It's a simple and easy rule.Agreed about the players. Yep, all day long
Our game needs more black and white rules like this.
As long as the referees follow the laws of the game, they can be as draconian as they like in my mind. That includes things like picking up the ball and running off with it when it's the opposition free kick or standing over the ball deliberately. I'm all for more yellows to get us back to a much classier sport.

And did I mention taking your shirt off is stupid? And even more stupid when they know it's an automatic yellow card.
And it's stupid.
Determine close calls on throws/corners.On outdated rules why do we have corner flags? What purpose do they serve?
Determine close calls on throws/corners.
If the flag post wasn't there, and a ball run out on the corner, how would you know if it's a corner or throw-in? With a post it's obvious, because if it's borderline, it will either deflect visibly one way or the other, or rebound back into play. But they don't
