Canning Town Bingo Club

And so it begins…….
I saw some allegations a while back and it looks like it’s coming home to roost

Looks like he’s going legal on it. Extracted from his personal statement :

I have not been provided with any proper explanation as to how these individuals or their claims were independently verified or assessed for credibility prior to publication. I believe that the entire process has been fundamentally unfair and completely lacking in any due impartiality. I will be suing the BBC for libel, along with any other media outlet that repeats any libelous allegations.

I am stepping down to apply my full energy and attention on fighting these false allegations. I have officially engaged my legal team and we are preparing to issue legal proceedings in respect of each and every false complaint that has been made against me. I will be seeking full redress, legally and publicly, on every single front.

You wouldn't just quit like that, you would say "the allegations are false, my legals on it, business as usual"

Who’s running them now? Brady jumped ship knowing this was coming and now he’s gone too
Kretinsky who is a major shareholder and co chairman. He is who the West Ham fans have wanted to run the club and is far more likely to put his hand in his pocket than Sullivan.

West Ham fans are delighted with this news, they've wanted him out for ages...

Kretinsky I believe has built his business by buying distressed assets. The relegation and Sullivan personal situation might be the chance he has been waiting on to grab the Sullivan shares on the cheap.

Exactly. There’s bound to be more coming out of all this
Hope you're right. A lot of that in the programme was common knowledge about how he treated girls, albeit bad to be laid out on national tv like that.

There was no smoking gun, his lawyers would eat up those accounts. Hopefully more to come from somewhere....

When you think about it, the whole "countdown to 16" is a huge red flag..................
I haven't read the article or watched panorama, and don't intend to - comes too close to being entertainment for me to be comfortable.

It's important we remember how times have changed. Since the boom of the internet and social media (and I'm thinking MySpace and Facebook), social attitudes have changed so much and stories heard more.

"Countdown to 16" is disgusting, yes. But in the 90s and early 2000s (I'm too young to comment on before), it was normalised.
As were phrases like "if there's grass on the pitch...."
Hell, there was a feature on prime Saturday morning TV on a football show all about a young woman walking and being leered at.

We should have known better.
Most of us now do.
But "countdown to 16" would have been considered distasteful rather than being a red flag.
And conversations like, "what if that was your daughter" would have been confined to the pub and dismissed as "I'd never let my daughter do that", or "my daughter isn't a slag" (and hate to break it to those dad's - those were promiscuous times!).

I know we focus on the bad side of social media right now - and rightly so - but it has widened and deepened social thinking, mostly for the better.

Went off on a bit of a tangent there.
With CSE and how social media and AI currently play a part and will continue to do so, hopefully what ever is coming out about Sullivan will be a timely reminder about human, and mostly male, behaviour.

No and I get that, but for someone to have been identified before 16 is where the issues are and although times have changed and normalization has changed, man alive do I feel horrendous about the idea of underage women being identified at 14 and 15.....

Yuk
