Brennan Johnson

Some people like that
Personally I like scoring more than the opposition
We are still scoring with roughly same differential in terms of goals as last season. We have a goal difference of 9 this year and we had 10 at the same stage last year so you have nothing to complain about in that regard then.

There is a difference between replacing him with better which is what i said then those who are always calling him crap/not good enough. But you know that. Most players can be replaced/upgraded on.
If he were good enough, he wouldn't need replacing. You're trying to be a superfan but you don't even believe hes good enough yourself. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Haaland gets 40+ goals. Johnson gets 10-12 goals. Haaland is actually improving his game this season. And he scores all kinds of goals. Johnson mainly scores tap ins.
Johnson’s scores more than tap ins
He did get 18 goals last season though
But you did say just scoring goals … that’s what Haaland does. Thats what you say Johnson’s does
It’s the hardest thing to do in football
I get you don’t rate him
That’s your choice

There's a tipping point whereby a player who 'only' scores goals, scores enough to outweigh what he doesn't offer otherwise. Some people think Johnsons goal scoring tips the scales in his favour, others don't - that's what this boils down to.

I'm on the 'it doesn't' side of the argument - as a goal for me is a very small moment in 90 + minutes of football and ultimately, as a team, if you improve your play over the course of a whole game then in the long run you will be better off (winning more/losing less)

Basically this. Excellent post.

I agree
If the other players on the pitch who are there to score, do just that
But a goal is the purpose of playing football too… it’s even in the name itself (the goal)

But that’s not all that Haaland does. Granted he is not as polished and rounded as Kane or even Isak but he wins headers, makes life difficult for defenders, he bullies them, makes them defend deeper because they are scared of his pace. Johnson is a goal scorer and nothing else. He’s a winger that doesn’t ever try and beat his man.

Even when he beats a man people say he doesn’t though (and it isn’t often)
He would actually have a lot of assist this year if certain strikers took the chances that others would have
And that’s with his limitations as a player which are there to see
The guy is persona non grata to so many fans see what they want to see

When it comes to scoring goals and finishing he’s a 7 or 8/10. At everyone else he’s a 3/10. We’re not good enough to carry players who are so poor technically.

I’d argue he is higher on the finishing
He has other things that are poor
The goal he scored in the CL was a sublime finish that most players wouldn’t make

Take him for what he is and I think he is fine
There are many wingers who create some chances but don’t get many goals and people crow about them

gonads, even if that was true imo its better then having agendas against certain players.

:p
You can think it's an agenda, but it's nothing like that. I'm just honest in my appraisal of a player whether they play for Spurs or not. If he plays well I'll give him credit, I have nothing against him. I just don't rate him as a player and think what he provides is of low quality.

Some people will rate a player more because they happen to play for the team they support. That's not me I'm always honest with my opinions.

Fair enough and as they say its all about o pinions, i will support any player who pulls our shirt on[ after all that is why we are called supporters]. Some support is over the top maybe but no more then those who are consistanty slagging certain players off. IMO
