Antonin Kinsky

I think it's a mistake to let Kinsky go, I believe he has tons of potential, especially considering the bar set by vicario

I don't think the bar set by Vic is important in some ways. Perhaps the bar set previously by David Raya when he worked for Frank is a better benchmark for the pair of them.

I think it's incredibly difficult to know Kinsky's runway. What I would say is that if we did pay £12.5m for him and he is demanding 1st team football (is he?) then if we don't think he has a massively high ceiling then just move on. It's not like a Richi where we've spent £60m and paid him a massive salary.

We definitely have to get the keeper situation sorted in the summer though. Be nice to think we could do it this window but January is a tough window to pick off these types of signings.

I remember thinking at the time we should've just spent the extra and got Raya in.
Instead, we went 'data' and took the cheaper profile option with reportedly higher ceiling. In many ways I feel sorry for Vic; he is clearly shaken and unhappy. I think a happier Vic perhaps prospers and grows, but it feels like his time here is absolutely done.

Vic is a good keeper and makes some great saves. Downside to him is he gets annoyed very easily, his passing is dodgy and his lack of commanding his 6 yard box is always problematic.
Like you say Raya was the obvious choice and relatively cheap for a no.1 keeper, as usual we skipped the obvious...
Edit.
To add to the obvious, for me we should've gone for Semenyo at least a year ago when we knew Sonny was on the decline.

I hope somebody at the club has learnt some lessons from us opting for the cheaper yet unproven option of Vicario instead of signing Raya that summer.

As for Kinsky, I’d be disappointed to see him departing. I’d like to see him go somewhere and play first team football for a year.

I said a few times over the last year that I wanted the club to sign Kelleher as our new first choice. He is significantly better than Vicario, was somewhat proven in the PL and should’ve been in our price range

If we didn’t want to pay the fee for Kelleher then Ramsdale would’ve been a good signing last summer. That would’ve allowed Kinsky to go out on loan and gain experience somewhere. I think Ramsdale would be first choice at Spurs by now and we could’ve then punted on Vicario back to Italy. Vicario is only still first choice at Spurs because the backup has so little experience of high level first team football.

I would also have been delighted if we had offered Mike Magnan a massive deal on a pre contract this month to join us in the summer on a free. That opportunity has passed though as he has now agreed a new deal at Milan.

I’m puzzled as to what data showed Vicario as having a higher potential ceiling than Raya?
