I get they are young. Why then are we losing more often the older they get?
Because we focussed on a the cup? Great. What cup do we focus on next season?
I'm actually a little bit shocked in what I'm reading, in some cases.
In Euro's we have spent the following
pre-Ange to start assembling this squad.
21/22 - 96m
22/23 - 180m
More relevant to Ange's period
23/24 - 272m
24/25 - 175m
That doesn't include the money spent on Danso, Kinsky and probably Tel - so another 75m
That doesn't include what will be spent this summer. That will be £100-200m.
When you spend close to a billion on a squad, it is not OK to say that a top 10 finish and league cup is adequate. It really isn't.
If I retained Ange and gave him another huge budget, he would need to know that minimum 5th is his league target. He would also be expected to make it into the knockouts for the CL. As for the domestic cups, we would need to perhaps compromise a little on these 2 if we go deep into those competitions. Obviously, if we draw top teams like Liverpool in early rounds and get knocked out, that solidifies the league and CL targets.
It is time to walk the talk with Ange. Let's face it, he's happy talking.
I think November is the next big assessment of this manager.
I love how what we spend is quoted but seldom what the teams we are competing with quoted.
Arsenal spent more half our budget on one player, after almost winning the league.
Aston villa are in deep do do if they don't make CL next season because of their wages.
Chelsea, well fudge me where do you want to start with that one.
We are starting again, third time in six years, when ange joined.
I'm far from happy with our PL form and have reservations about him for next season, but it's not as simple as is being made out.
It's the base we started from though, we spent to build a new squad because ours was a mixed bag/not good enough. We've been 4th biggest spenders in europe over the last 5 years. 3rd in the prem (more than arsenal).

Premier League net spend table over the last five years
Forget the league table, it's all about the Premier League net spend table. And Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal and Tottenham are ahead of the other 16.www.football365.com
Even with a rebuild, we are not the 17th worst squad in the league. It's the base we started from though, we spent to build a new squad because ours was a mixed bag/not good enough.
They teams around us are ahead in their rebuilding.

I don't remember ever saying we were.Even with a rebuild, we are not the 17th worst squad in the league.
That was my point though. They're absolutely not. Even if it takes 4 or 5 years of churn to refresh an entire squad we're now about to complete that feat this summer.
There is no legitimacy in the "starting from behind" argument anymore. 2 seasons ago definitely. It is absolutely not the case as we enter the 25/26 season.
Ange has been blessed with the 4th best budget in the league, and the best budget from any Spurs manager in our history. I noticed in January that we were perhaps just a second left back away from having good cover in every single position. As long as we rotate minimally but make sure every one of our best players gets their turn to rest I think we can be formidable next season. That's assuming that we do churn another 2 or 3 of this squad and a couple emerge from the academy.
I genuinely think we play down the quality of our squad. I think it can be top 5.
What feat? We are two years into the rebuild, not four or five.
So we have progressed but no one else had?
I agree, our could be top five, at the beginning of the season did anyone really think that with one game to go forest would be challenging for top five?
The unpredictability is what makes sport what it is.
Before the final I was sure that even if we won the Europa League he would be gone after our league form this year. I just didn't see how that could be overlooked. I sense though that there has been a shift in feeling for many and am sure he's going to be given a chance next year. It honestly looks as though the vast majority of players are behind him and I wonder how they'd react to him being let go after the feelings they've had over past few daysBecause they were too many young and inexperienced having to shoulder the burden too early, and too often.
Now they are further along their development, and more experienced, but still young. Which makes them an excellent core to build on. We need a squad with enough premium quality to be able to rest our "old" 27-28 years old. There is so much potential in that group, and we've barely scratched the surface of the quality on some of those players.
I don’t think the Bruno chance was central, I think he was level with or even outside the near post: the only way he could’ve scored that was by glancing it into the far corner IMO, which was a difficult thing to do. I suspect if you looked up that chance it would’ve had a reasonably low XG. It was pretty much the only chance Man Utd created and wasn’t a particularly good one.Bruno had a clear header central to our goal. Thought he was going to score myself and for him particularly was a great chance.
As to 9/10 take point on keeper error i am more taking about what happens 9/10 when ball comes out in the penalty box to a PL striker with an open goal and your keeper stranded in no-man's land.
I don't think Vicario is very good in those situations though. Think Kinsky will be no 1 eventually
You're not really trying to say that players bought to play conte system are the same as those required for Ange and the "tottenham DNA" that levy spoke about less than two years. We are not 2 years into a rebuild. We have a dof system that isn't basing players on a particular coach.
We will be constantly rebuilding as we go.
Disagree, much as I would love to be winning the league and the cl out pedigree is based on fa cups and European football! So I don’t think we can or should discount them.
The best teams aim to win every competition and that should be our goal too. And maybe just maybe big ange is the one to do it.
He’s got my vote for now and yes I am a fickle fan!

It's not what you spend it's what you buy that's important.
