That's where my expectations are at. I'm not thinking we are suddenly going to win trophies every year. But top 5/6 for next season and at least one good cup run would be a decent season off the back of this one for me.
Like I've just said, if our league form over the first couple of months comes close to where it's been this season then no one can have any complaints about him going....
I’ll get “Ange Postecoglou” tattooed across my arse with glee.

Each season is different with different challenges, the 'league table since Chelsea in his first season' means as much as the 'We are top of the league for the calendar year' era under Poch ie zero. The facts are we were 5th in his first season, and probably 17th second season. And I have no idea what we can achieve next season, just like I had no idea we would win the Europa League at this stage last season. Do I think it beyond the realms of possibility we could finish somewhere around where we finished all that time ago, sorry 12 months ago? No.This is the league table since we got found against Chelsea in his first seaon. What makes you think/believe we can achieve what you deem to be acceptable next season?

When he came here people liked to highlight the fact he has no experience in a 'competitive' league, he's just a PE teacher etc. Well, like any player or human being they need time to adapt to new surroundings and challenges. So you want to highlight how he's contradicting his original principles, maybe he's learning on the job that his idealistic way of football isn't going to always be successful at the very top level and is adapting his game plans over time - he's learning on the job, and his CV at Spurs reads one 5th place finish, one poor league finish, a Europa League trophy and Champions League football. Things are never ever going to be plain sailing at Spurs, forgive me for thinking he actually deserves a crack for the start of next season at building on some of the foundations he has built at Spurs....
I'd be surprised if he was employed to learn on the job, Mason could've done that for us.
I'd also argue that he has done the opposite of learn on the job going by his PPG since he joined.
1st Season
First 19 games - 1.95 PPG
Last 19 games - 1.57 PPG
This season
First 19 games - 1.26 PPG
Last 18 games - 0.77 PPG
All I see is decline, quarter on quarter.
Forgive me for being sceptical about our chances of finishing 5/6th next season, however I would love to be proved wrong.
I just think you’re taking too narrow a view of things. The 21 (22 after tomorrow) league defeats is appalling when you look at it in isolation. But it absolutely didn’t happen in isolation. You can be annoyed and question whether we really needed to through away league points as we have in the pursuit of the Europa League — that’s fair enough — but I think you need to consider far more.
Jesus. That’s too far for me even!

The young players have got a lot of experience (both good and bad) and will be more prepared to contribute from the start next season. CL money will allow us to strengthen in a couple of key areas. Ange should be more willing to trust his squad after this season, especially the youngesters so we should see him being more willing to rotate from the start of the season and hopefully reduce the amount of injuries. All combined will hopefully lead to better performances. Of course nothing is guaranteed in football. This is the league table since we got found against Chelsea in his first season. Where do youvthink we'll finish in the league next season if ange stays and how far will we get in the cl?

I set my expectations in the other Ange thread:
Absolutely, the first 3 months are make or break. We really need to win 6 or 7 of the first 10 or he’ll be under pressure again.
For me, the first aim would be winning the League Cup. If we do that in February, then finishing top 10 would do. Fail to win that, and it’ll be all in on the FA Cup but we’d probably need to finish top 5 or 6 as a bit of a ‘backup’.

this guy won a trophy too ... and could not replicate the needed results the next season
League cup won't do. It would be great don't get me wrong. But the money from cl is so huge we can't be losing £100m and letting villa/Saudi Sportswashing Machine/villa get an extra £100m. That's a £200m swing in revenue. With those clubs willing to spend every penny of it.
I don't wan't to go back to the 90's being a mid table club. Winning a league cup. I want us to be challenging on every front. I want us to dominate.
