Of course then was still knocked out by United in a comp won eventually by all conquering Chelsea.....the depth is massive
So its much of a muchness really? couple of good teams if you get a lucky draw
Of course the flip is you could have PL teams all the way to the final, in which case I would agree with you

To an extent but I think the depth of PL sides is far greater than those in the EL. Which is the ultimate test IMO

I think the FA Cups a harder cup to win, i think more so now replays are gone. That's just an opinion and not hating on Spurs

I think the new long league format makes it near impossible for anyone half decent to not make the knock outs where as you meet Liverpool, City, Arsenal etc early and your goose is cooked off the bat in the FA Cup

We knocked two of those teams out of the cups, and beat them in the league, but it didn't matter because it was only the cups or that they were out of form.

I think if the club's aim was to find an appointment that would unite the increasingly fractured fan base and address the increasingly bitter and hostile atmosphere at the stadium, then this guy's appointment can only be viewed as an unmitigated disaster. You only have to read the last few pages of this thread to verify that...
Funnily enough, early on that’s exactly what he did. The style of football, the jovial press conferences, the results, Robbie Williams, The Fonz…

I think that early harmony is what saw him get so much leeway from the fan base. The first impression is the strongest.

I think something broke in the relationship after City last year. That created a massive fault line. And it’s sort of continued in that vein and with results deteriorating, we’re now in arguably the most toxic manager relationship of my lifetime.

Its not anything to do with that though. Being in the EL itself means you avoid 5 of the PL best by nature of the comp.

I don't think its outrageous to think its easier to be facing some of what Europe offers up over the best in the PL. Not sure what the outrage is TBH

The PL is the hardest league in the world.
I would rate the CL as the next.
After that it's a toss up depending on the draw.
Generally a team that wins any Cup are worthy winners, maybe you get lucky in the draw, maybe you get a dodgy decision in a game, you can't help.

In my honest opinion, fudge all to do with ange, should we win the EL this year it's more of an achievement than any trophies city or Chelsea have bought in the last 15 years.

Absolutely agree with this context.

This thread is an Ange in or out thread. In the context of this discussion, it’s absolutely relevant to look at the quality of the opposition we have played in the EL and whether based on winning the EL, he should stay in a job. That doesn’t degrade how a we would feel about winning it.

I also get the viewpoint that some fans may be a bit meh about the final at the moment because of what has been served up this season.

I, myself, am conflicted. I could fly back to Europe for the game because of work commitments, which was gutting and in general often feel a bit disconnected with Spurs, now being on the other side of the world. waking up at four in the morning to lose game after game and then shower and go to work has taken its toll. that’s just how I feel, I don’t think it means I’m less of a fan.

Having said that I would be ecstatic if we win the EL, our whole family is getting up to watch it and if we win it, celebrating with the wife and kids will be special in its own way.
Not quite sure where I have gone with all of this but essentially each to their own.
It doesn’t make us less of a fan

But when we beat City 4-0 and Villa 4-1, they didn’t count because we’re brick? I’m just trying to keep up with all the asterisks that people add to our results. Do these teams suddenly count? Oh, that’s right — it’s only when Spurs do something good that it doesn’t count.

No one hates Spurs like Spurs fans.

Honestly you're getting so boring. You bang on about people digging Ange out but you keep repeating the same boring brick all the time and it just restarts the same conversations again! For someone who is so against any talk of Ange out, you do a good job of bringing it to the surface again.

You actually come across as being obsessed.

It's results and performances.

I actually quite liked his appointment. I was concerned with how we finished last season but it was not till November this season I was get him gone.

By February his arrogance sent me loopy and I now fudging despise him.

Football is great because it does not matter whether you are young or old black or white or what country you are from, just be good. If you can't be good be nice. Ange is neither Ange can fudge off.

All that matters [at the moment] is the game on Wednesday. I could not give a brick about how bad we have been, stupid arguments [ about what type of man Ange is] or miserable moaners about our season.

It is what it is, we are in the final of a trophy and i could not give a brick how good, bad, poor a competition it is, its what the game is all about imo and that is the enjoyment of winning something.

COYS.
