American politics

I think he may be living in a post-facts world, so don’t hold your breath.
What is interesting about that red/blue state map that gets trotted out all the time is that it is quite misleading. Outside of the urban centres all of rural america votes gop. All of it, even in the so-called blue states. All urban centres vote blue and whether a state goes Democratic or not is effectively decided by the population of the cities in that state. The phenomenon is called urban archipelago, I believe. This is why the cities are the target of nearly all harmful gop policies - policies designed to target the urban dem voters. The irony being that these cities are the financial engines of the country and keep the rural population afloat with their 'socialism'.

To be clear, you need a source to support that there are higher immigrant populations in these areas and that Texas is not as densely populated as the other areas?
Yes. The immigrant population, the percentage of them who are illegal as you claimed , why they are illegal, and then compare that to all the other urban centres not highlighted. Thanks. Also if you want to cross-reference that with the number of Ice agents in those areas, that would be a bonus and you'd get lots of kudos from me.

I think you are proving my point for me.

Ummm yes. Even in your own numbers, there are states with high unauthorised immigrant numbers and with high population density that are not big red hotspots , for example Florida and Texas. The correlation between the hot spots and your figures is far weaker than the correlation between blue states and hotspots.

Florida is an anomaly I will give you that. But the correlation also takes into acoclam where the sanctuary cities are located, which I also provided.

Democrats desire to thwart mass deportations is because illegal immigrants are a vital part of their power base. Works the other way for the Republicans. They wanted them in the country when all that mattered was the cheap labour. But now there are other motivations.

Illegal immigrants and non citizens still count towards the census which occurs every decade, even if they cannot legally vote. The census determines the apportionment of congressional seats and electoral votes. Because we have see vast numbers of citizens of blue states migrating to red states, it’s expected that the traditionally blue states are going to lose 11 seats and th red states will gain 11 seats. A 22 point swing that will on the Republicans favor with Florida now a deep red state to boot.

+4: TX
+2: FL
+1 AZ, GA, ID, NC, UT
-1: IL, MN, NY, OR, PA, RI, WI
-4: CA

It means that the Demoncrats could win all 4 true swing states (MI, NV, PA, WI) and still lose the election 265-273. They would need to swing a state like Arizona or Georgia that have voted Republican on only 1 of the last 7 elections (2020).

Still, for the most part that heat map can be explained by immigrant population.

You typed that out very quickly ;)

I know all about how fudged up the US voting is and you have seemed to miss all of the problems related to the disproportionate power given to empty land in red states. There are plenty of other anomalies in the correlation there which I couldn't be bothered pointing out, as I see where you are coming from now.

We got there in the end.

What would be your solution for deporting people in the US illegally ?
My solution? First, I would create an army of unvetted brownshirts and give them funding higher than most countries' defence budgets. I would mask them up and send them out to kidnap anyone darker than Farrow & Ball Shadow White No.282. in my opponent's political strongholds. Lock up everybody without due process in concentration camps and then deport them to El Salvador. My legal solution would be different.

Mate if you are defending the fascism everyone can see playing out on US streets you might just be on the wrong side of this.

Be serious. Trump was democratically elected, deporting all illegal immigrants was a key election mandate and it had majority support. How does he make that happen?

The mandate was to deport criminals and gang members. The polls show that the majority are against the way immigration and deportations are being handled.

No it was to deport all illegal immigrants and that was a popular promise.

But anyone that enters the country illegally is
by default a criminal.

U.S. Code, Section 1325 - It is illegal to enter or attempt to enter the United States at a place other than a designated port of entry.

8 U.S.C. 1324a - It is unlawful for anyone who is not authorized to work in the United States to accept employment.
