We were there, there was NO cops when everything happened. Campo do fiore is a big tourist spot and they were nowhere to be seen until trouble started.

Gross negligence IMO.

Lots of fans who witnessed it said the police just drove off when it all started !!

The ultra's defo in cahoots with the police out there..

The owner of the bar confirms as much in this interview, if the police are involved then it might also explain where the the Ultras got the CS gas from.

Racism may have been behind the attack, 10 wounded, 1 English fan serious, - Football - La Gazzetta dello Sport

Marco Manzi, the owner described what happened the night before as he stood outside his devastated pub... "What's serious is that this all took place in the space of ten minutes. And in Campo dei Fiori, too. Usually when an English team plays here the police are out in force. This time there was only one police car which sped off as soon as the trouble started. I get the impression this thing was all planned because the English fans had been here since the afternoon and no one had been keeping an eye on them. They had everything prepared to perfection.

My missus is Italian and watched loads of the media stuff online. Loads of them are reporting the police were pretty much in on it. They are ridiculously corrupt though. The police are universally despised down there unless your family are part of the force

It's pretty clear that travelling fans are not safe in Italy. As a bare minimum, they should have to play all remaining ties in a neutral country.

Sounds like the police had some fun cracking yid skulls with their batons in the ground last night too

Two Italians thought to be fans of the AS Roma football team have been charged with attempted murder after a group of Tottenham fans was attacked in Rome.

Ten Spurs fans, in town for a match with rival Rome club Lazio, were taken to hospital after Thursday's attack.

One Spurs fan injured in the bar attack - named on social media as Ashley Mills, 25, from Brentwood, Essex - will remain in hospital for a fortnight.

Media suspicion initially fell on Lazio fans, but this was later questioned.

The BBC understands Mr Mills has "skull and thigh" injuries from the stabbing in a bar early on Thursday.

There has been speculation that the attack was carried out by a far right group with anti-Semitic leanings; Tottenham traditionally draw support from north London's Jewish community.

The BBC's Rome correspondent Alan Johnston said: "There are reports that witnesses heard the masked men shouting 'Jews' as they launched their attack. A senator here has said that what happened had racist, anti-Semitic connotations.

"And he's called on the Interior Minister to report on the matter. The mayor of Rome has said that the possibility that anti-Semitism played a part made the attack all the more serious. Meanwhile Israel's ambassador to Italy has indicated he has no doubt that this was a racist attack."

Italian newspaper reports named the two men who have been charged as 26-year-old Francesco Ianari and Mauro Pinnelli, 27, both said to be AS Roma fans.

Other reports suggested the pair were caught after they boasted about their exploits on a bus and that there was CCTV evidence from the Campo de' Fiori, outside the Drunken Ship bar.

On Thursday Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito said: "Lazio fans have nothing to do with what happened" and he added that there would be "surprises about the real culprits".

Meanwhile, Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has called for Uefa to investigate alleged anti-Semitic chanting during Thursday's game against Lazio, which ended in a 0-0 draw.

An FA spokesperson said: "We were saddened and alarmed to see reports of violent incidents prior to the game as well as anti-Semitic chants.

"The FA had a crowd control advisor present at the fixture who will provide an urgent report which we will pass on to Uefa as a matter of priority."

In October, Lazio were fined 40,000 euros (£32,500) following racist chanting at Spurs' White Hart Lane ground.

Would it be fair to say that the Italian gang would have been unaware of the Spurs Jewish connections if Baddiel and the Herbert hadn't being making a self-promoting issue of it?

No it wouldnt. You should have seen Lazio fans when they played us. They were all in cahoots with West Spam fans in Liverscum street. All buddies n brick.

I'm not sure that's fair to say, I'm not even sure that news of the furore is even international.
As I've said elsewhere in the thread even if the Yids thing was Spurs fans fault that wouldn't justify attempted murder, these people who carried out the attack are simply the sort of people who would carry out such an attack regardless, they'd have found another justification if it were someone else. Maybe they were protesting over Gaza.

I noticed that The Sun are claiming that the Spammers might be involved in the ambush:

Tottenham fan knifed in Nazi attack at Europa League match in Rome | The Sun |News

Thugs linked to West Ham and Leeds United were spotted in Rome earlier, The Sun can reveal.

A source said: “West Ham have been linked with Lazio since Paolo Di Canio was at the club, and the friendship grew from there. They also hate Spurs, so would see it as a good way of having a pop at them away from the eyes of the British police. Meanwhile, Leeds have a long-standing relationship with Lazio and are often at their games.”

Italian cops said last night they had identified 15 of the masked assailants. A spokeswoman added: “We do not have the information to confirm or deny suggestions that foreigners were involved.”

I can hardly believe that. Amazing and appalling. If Lazio are not throw out of Europe over this then what semblance of credibility that UEFA still have will disappear in a puff of gas.

These bent pigs should go to prison too, along with the rest of the animals they round up from this attack. Foreign office need to get involved.

I wouldnt be surprised in the slightest if they went to Italy for the game. Lets be honest they could get away with being racist over there but not here. Thats why the furore over racism in this country, specifically in football, is blown out of all proportion.

There were a fair few West Ham with Lazio for the game at WHL, saw them with my own eyes at the spoon at Liverpool St so wouldn't be surprised if a few went over to Italy. Pathetic really, they'll have their chance on Sunday if they want to have a pop.
