I vaguely remember Klopp played him up front initially. Pretty sure he was their striker in the 7-0 against United. I can't remember when they moved him back to his more natural LWF but yeah at the start he was playing CF for Pool.

Cody Gakpo has played 66 games as a centre-forward out of his 179 total appearances for Liverpool.While he is naturally a left winger, he was heavily used as a central striker (or a "false nine") by Jurgen Klopp during his first year and a half at Anfield following his arrival in January 2023.

with an entire team of ballers, we might just do without a classic CF
 
I would honestly pass on this now if Marmoush is coming. Happy to keep Moore around or give the opportunity to W.Barnett to be the 6th Forward with the possibility of Kulusevski & Odobert coming back to us year and Xavi in early 2027.

Will cost us £70M+. Would rather go and use that money on Kroupi or Gibbs White.

We are a relatively short side. Gakpo addresses that and has frontline versatility. Moore is off to Köln after the weekend it looks like, and LWB will likely get minutes off the bench here and there but will (Im guessing) be loaned in January. Who does Gibbs White come in for? Why do we need him?

Yeah, we have about 6 LWFs and zero capable specialist CFs. Gakpo would leave us even more unbalanced like that. I'd go for/wait for Kroupi still

I think Marmoush is instead of Kroupi - I posted a few possible options in the striker thread before we’d had a real link to Marmoush and said that of those options Marmoush would be the most similar kind of player for us to bring in if our original first choice was Kroupi.
