I’ve been listening on Audible while out walking the dog.
Finished Beatlebone, three quarters of the way through City of Bohane. Read by Kevin Barry himself. Really enjoying them.

I’d imagine Beatlebone sounded great read by him.

I’m just beginning to wonder…is Kevin Barry a Spurs fan?…Have he and @clownfoot ever been seen in the same room…? 😀
 
Starting Empire of the Summer Moon this week, feels really symbolic of the times considering how recent the history of Parker is and the claims to the US and recent immigration rows.

I actually wrote my own book, or should I say writing using Royal Road at the moment. Actually a great way to pass the time during the off season.

I stopped reading serious books in my 30's when I realised my opinions didn't matter and would change nothing.
 
I am in the middle of Annie Jacobsen's latest Biological War - A Scenario (she is a great writer who manages to make complex situations and scenarios comprehensible for all).

Much like her previous on Nuclear War, and several of her other titles, I'd say it once again amplifies exactly how little we know versus how much we think we know, and further, the fact is we are powerless if any of the numerous agents of misfortune (or simply cracked actors) want to do something catastrophic.
So if nobody minds, I'm going to just go back to throwing ludicrous optimism at De Zerbi's Spurs!!!!

I am reading Nuclear War now, and it is more than a little disturbing. I find it hard to pick up.

Aside - I'd recommend the Mildly Alarmed podcast episode on nuclear deterrence in Europe in the age of Trump. Gives a good overview of the current state of play.

Great, will check that one out...yes, Nuclear War by AJ was so sobering it made me realize that if ever a nuke is coming, I hope it is coming right at where I am, because survival looked very, very grim!
 
Currently reading Attack Warning Red by Julie McDowell, about the UK’s plans for Nuclear War.

Had no idea Annie Jacobson had another book out, will definitely read that, the Nuclear War one was terrifying but I read it in a couple of sittings.
