***Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea***, Premier League, Nov 1st 2025 at White Hart Lane

Frank can't be blamed for Xavi not being able to do the basics though.
It's not just Xavi. He sets the team up and they are all playing it sideward or back as they have been almost all season. I'm trying to stay positive about Frank but what the fudge is our playing style?

Week in week out it's a tough watch, and injuries or not we have players who showed last season they are more than capable of doing things attacking wise. I really do not enjoy watching us right now....

See that Gibbs-White scored again today, perhaps Xavi will turn out to be a better player in the long run but he looks like he’ll need at least a full season to get up to PL speed which ain’t ideal knowing that Kulusevski probably won’t be match fit for months and feck knows what Maddison will be like after such a serious injury.

That’s an embarrassing half of football. We’d be 3 or 4 down only for the effort of the players. So negative. No one moving in possession. No numbers forward.

Will give two simple examples. We take a long goal kick. Pahlinha and bentancur are stood 10 yards in front of our box. That’s fudging brainless. They need to be up the pitch ready to win the second ball.

Porro gave a chance away, Vic saves and we break. Pahlinha gets it and fudging passes it backwards. Completely unacceptable.

This is on Frank. Not good enough by a long way. This is the big leagues, not Brentford.

Brentford never played like this.

We have no players forward when we attack. The lad in possession has no options in front of him. That’s not on Xavi.

I’ve never booed us or any player. I was tempted at half time. The negative streak running through our team is on the manager.
It's hard to be positive in attack if your number 10 is not able to hold onto the ball or your right winger is trying to take on the whole team by himself.

Watching the US coverage and their talking about Frank being so frustrating conceding because he ‘knows the game plan is out the window’.

Who knows if they’re right, but it is a concerning idea in the sense that our football is predicated on not falling behind and then being able to catch a team on the break. Can we score against a team like Chelsea with the onus on us to make the game? Maybe…with a set piece?

As soon as I heard the words Spurs can go second in the table with a win today I could have predicted this performance. Hopefully the team will prove me wrong in the second half but I`m not going to bet my savings on it
