The Cricket Thread

Had them at it at 76-4 but Marsh/Smith have batted well helped by some abject bowling from Woakes and to a lesser degree Ali in the last 45 minutes

Not sure you can blame Ali for that - the pitch started to dry out and lose the grip.

Looking at that pitch, it looks like it might have something in the morning when it's a little damp and then lose it during the day. If it's staying damp in the morning then it's also less likely to break up later on in the match.

Bit of a collapse, 267-7. Ugly effort from Woakes.

He has to make up with the ball because he is in there to "Bat abit"

I think we are ahead here, get them out for a lead any lead and its very much game on.

Stokes will get off his charge with the defending the gay guys and be out to boost the Aussies. I think the lad is abit of a B3llend but they are scared of him no doubt, its just a case of is he going to out perform the abuse he will get. All that said I think getting him out mid tour will definitely be a master stroke, a master stoke

Aussies 26 in front, now over to Cooky et al for what is effectively a one innings each side game

Worry that Anderson looks hurt though

Absolutely dreadful from Cook, why on earth are you hooking !!

Absolute carbon copy (unless my memory is playing tricks on me) of one of his very early dismissals in the last ashes series down there 4 years ago; hooked a bouncer out of panic & got caught on the boundary. Think it was Johnson bowling at him last time.

Massive session coming up. The Aussies will be smelling blood first thing I think. Ideally, we need to both score runs and keep wickets intact, because if they make inroads early they could run away with it.

Sounds like a job for Root.

Yep, not a lot to feel positive about really. Letting them get away in the first innings after taking early wickets changed the game, but overall you have to say the aussies deserve this one.

What's happened to our famously deep batting line-up? Its not there anymore with this 11.
