Moussa Sissoko

What you actually post basically boils down to 'Sissoko is always sh*t'. I'm sure you can find a tropical parrot to repeat it back to you over and over again, since that seems to be the 'answer' to your post that you actually want.

Do you think Sissoko has technical skills good enough for a top 4 side?

How are his:
ball control skills?
passing skills?
balance on the ball?
crossing skills?
shooting skills?

Didn't judge him last season. On this season's evidence...no.

How are his:
ball control skills? Average.
passing skills? Atrocious.
balance on the ball? Good.
crossing skills? Good.
shooting skills? Atrocious.

But in the end, he showed heart and fight today - he played more aggressively than eight other players on the field (with only Sanchez and Lloris exempt from the general lack of fight). If anyone couldn't see that, they need their eyes examined.

The very fact that thats where you go with it just proves my point.

He did indeed show heart and fight. Sadly, far more is required.

Quick passing is Tottenham's style of play. A player who has passing as one of his major weaknesses must have strengths to compensate. Sadly, Sissoko doesn't have offensive strengths that compensates for this weakness. Thus, he gets (deservedly) stick.

It is interesting to compare Sissoko and Capoue. Similar age, both were at Toulouse at same time. Both young player of the year in France in the same year. Both currently in PL.

Capoue considered not good enough and/or right for us. Bought for about £9m and sold for about £6m.
Sissoko bought for about £30m.

During his time in the PL Capoue has played 100 games and scored 9 goals mainly from DM.
Over the same period i.e since 2013-14 inclusive Sissoko has played 138 games and scored 9 goals mainly from box to box or attacking midfielder.

Capoue managed not to look like one of those blind footballers trying to control a ball with bells in too.

Alli had a terrible game, as did most of our team and our manager.

Alli has shown himself to be one of the best players in the league - he has earned a starting place in our team.

Sissoko had a par game by his ability. Unfortunately for us, a par game by Sissoko's standards is below that of a professional footballer.

I’m just really not on board with this idea gay Dele, or anyone else in the team, has ‘earned some slack’ because they are attacking players that might grab a goal or because of what they have done before. And it’s for the same reason that judging Sissoko this season by taking into account last season’s performances are also pointless. Objectively, and based on what you want to get out of these players, Sissoko has done pretty well this season. He’s been pretty consistent. Dele has been massively inconsistent and terrible in some games. And my point is, if Sissoko played the game that Dele did today, he would be absolutely and utterly crucified. And that isn’t fair.

And how is his physicality, his defensive postioning? His alernetness to danger? His absolutely ability to carry out instructions for the team? His ability to win his individual battle? All things coaches love and why he gets in the team.

We paid too much for him for the role he ultimately fulfills, but he’s earning his spot in our team right now. I don’t think any of the skills you’ve listed above are as bad as a lot of people will make out, but I would like to see more decisive contributions from him in an attacking sense. Part of it is because clearly his role is to give it to Eriksen or Dembele or whoever quickly and let them to damage. But when he does have opportunities, it would be good if he was more decisive. Otherwise though, his contributions to the overall team, structure and system are why he’s earning a place in our starting line up right now, as he is genuinely excellent at a lot of that. Spurs fans don’t necessarily warm to physical box to box midfielders, but he’s doing what he needs to do.

His run towards the end of the game summed him up, and is the reason why he isn't very good. It catches the eye for those that don't really understand the game, but there's nothing substantive there. It was a brilliant run, 60 or 70 yards but he then gives the ball away so nothing comes from it. Like his performance in Euro 2016, people were raving about him because of a few runs but his end product in that tournament was 0 goals and 0 assists.

Today he did a few eye catching runs, but didn't create anything or link up at all with your better players in front of him. Arsenal knew what they were doing.
Haven't you got smaller fish to fry?

It's hardly constant. He's just not very good, not good enough to be starting in a team that allegedly aspires to be challenging for the title.

Allegedly... wow. That would be like saying are allegedly a big club. Come on man, your better than that surely

he is regularly starting for a team that was third this morning on GD

And he played last year when we came 2nd

Their facts, not opinions and were all entitled to opinions but repeating them doesn’t make them right
