Canning Town Bingo Club

10 point deduction for both teams, Div 1 for the dildo brothers in 2018/19.
They might really struggle if they go down.
Hernandez and Lanzini are their only players of any real sales value.

Their defence are all pretty old and very average. Even Aaron Creswell is about to turn 28 - not a "prospect" anymore.

Their GK is on loan.

Moyes needs to buy a defence in January.

Serious relegation fears

36 MF Domingos Quina
37 MF Nathan Holland

9 FW Andy Carroll
15 FW Diafra Sakho
17 FW Javier Hernández
20 FW André Ayew

Genuinely poor pool of players. Very little real quality, a handful of "average to decent" and then just dross. It would take a real motivator to get somewhere with these guys, someone who can really galvanise them and make them stick to a plan.

Is that Moyes? Not for me. I think they are in real trouble, and if they stay up this year itll be a race to the bottom type "who imploded the worst" situation.

We'd have been ashamed of a team like that in the late 90s.

Attritional is a perfectly appropriate description for the brand of football you are discussing there.

In terms of Bolton going against Arsenal, where they were completely outclassed, theres nothing wrong with it.

However, when you build a club up to knocking on the top 6 in that style, you are limiting yourself. And so it showed.

He got only so far doing it that way, and then when they were of a certain level he failed to take the next steps.

Which were steps available to him, he just didnt take them.

No, you cant. Bournemouth and Swansea have already survived playing that way. Why cant they continue?

And look at Bournemouth, their spending - they arent a rich club and yet are able to purchase players to allow them to play more expansive football than Everton ever did. Money is not the issue. It helps, for sure, but its not the limiting factor that defines all.

Look at Leicester, premier league champions with a squad largely made of players that came up from the championship with them.

Look at us, title contenders with such massive outlays as £10m Lloris, £10m Dier, £11 Wanyama, £? Rose and Walker...

A fantastic team can be built on a budget. Great football can be achieved on a budget. It all comes down to the managers ability and ambition.

And, in the case when such unheard of time as 10 years is involved, it is a very fair conclusion to state that that Everton team were the peak of Moyes ability and ambition.

And, personal taste accepted, I hated it.

I have far more respect for Allardyce, by the way, who I think is a very under rated manager. Not good enough for us, but certainly better than he is often credited.

Moyes, for me, is the opposite. People assume he is much better than he really is, IMO.

I think on the whole, Moyes did a very good job at Everton. He got them to a cup final, they finished in the top 4 once under him and this was in the days of the "big 4", not bad considering their resources and what they were up against. The consistently finished around the top 7/8 IIRC bar the odd bad season. The question you have to ask is did he leave them in a better condition than they were when he arrived? The answer for me is yes. I think he and the club reached their ceiling and the fans felt like they needed a change but weren't actively asking for one.

He's been pretty bang average/crap since then though.

I would really love for them to get relegated. They can't even bring themselves to admit we are now one of the "big 6" along with Emirates Marketing Project, United, Chelsea, Arse and Liverpool. They say things like the "the big 5 and Spurs".

Undeniably he did a good job, and undeniably they were left better off when he left than when he joined - my point has always been that I believe he should have done better.

That level that Everton were at was the literal peak of his ability - and IMO when compared with the best he is really left wanting.

He seemed to have an over achieving season with Everton and then the next they would under achieve, then next they would do well and then... Very topsy turvy.

Love the fact he’s already called out “the West Ham way” b0ll0cks! Just like Allardyce. The only people in the world who think they have “a way” are the West Ham fans themselves, I’ve no idea what that way is.

I know, what the hell have they won in the last 30 years to give them a "way of playing"?

Zola was the last one to play any football.

That's how I viewed his time at Everton - he only really had one great season, when they finished 4th, the rest was average really with the odd bad season thrown in, and he achieved it by playing an awful brand of football. 10 years and nothing to show for it - not even a good record against Liverpool or other top sides or some classic games to remember them by. If it wasn't for the length of time he was there he wouldn't even be remembered fondly
