I was surprised Dier went off instead of Wanyama, who gave the ball away too many times and looked off it today. On the goal, Wanyama missed the pass to Sissoko and then didn't track Alonso back. With some pressure Alonso may not have gotten the shot on target. Lloris could've done better of course.

I was sat in the upper tier and just before Alonso went to hit the fre kick I said to my daughter that Hugo had left a massive gap to aim at on the side it went in. Generally he looked nervy today.

It's a shame to have to agree with you mate. Love Hugo, and he will get us many many points this season, but he committed two mistake for the second goal and I agree, placement for the first was not amazing (plus the height meant it was savable). But that second...why throw to a player who is on empty and playing his first game in weeks having only had limited pre-season training? A foolish decision, and something he needs to cut from his game. Manage that moment, throw wide, better still, just hold it and let the moment settle!!!!! Being beaten on that post was not great but the throw out really got me.

A little harsh I think. We were dominant for the most part and won just about everything in the middle. Their good tactic was making sure the Kane, Alli and Eriksen. were never allowed to work close together, with Alli forced to come from wide positions and Eriksen deep.It's what made Kane's performance all the more remarkable for m, he was excellent and exceptionally unlucky not to score IMO. Agree re: Victor, and I think Poch has to wear that one, though I bet the plan was to sub him 60 but Dier's card would've changed that. I wanted to see Winks for sure as I felt the game needed him to knit things together a little more in behind Kane and Alli...

I'd go further than that. He'd be impossible to improve upon until we could pay £200k per week which anyone better would want, and there's only a low to mid single digit number of keepers who are in that category anyway

I'm not going to comment on why we lost, I think thats been covered in detail, what I wanted to comment on is how at no point in the game did it look like we were playing at home, yeh there were badger banners and our colours everywhere but the seats were red, fans were miles from the pitch compared to what it was like at WHL, the shelf couldn't sing to the Paxtonites, it all felt "contrived" for use of a better word, I was merely watching from a fans perspective on the Roger, I can only imagine how our players felt.

Atmosphere sounded fine to me. The last time 70k fans roared us on so passionately against a major League rival would have been way back in the 'fifties.

Kane missed an absolute sitter from one.

But I agree - what is it with the short corners/free kicks as well? We had a few which ended back on the Centre circle WTF!

We desperately need new players in to be able to mix things up in games like that.

Might have been mentioned here earlier, but some dude on Facebook claimed we've conceeded 13 goals from the last 15 shots on target against us on Wembley. Ridiculous if true - but the good thing is that stat won't last.

Think we played ok last night, Chelski were set up brilliantly defensively, yet we still managed to threaten them on a few occations. Few players not up to their usual standards, Wanyama and Son notably (some others under par too) and I just don't get why we persist on using Sissoko. He's the odd one out for me - just doesn't work in our system and style of play. We should just get rid. He offered nothing yesterday (not blaming the loss on him, it just baffles me that he keep getting game time).

Lots to work with though. And this was always going to be one of the toughest home games this season.

The atmosphere felt OK. Great at times - at the start and at times through the first half and then obviously after we scored. Second half the crowd were getting nervous. The trouble with Wembley, as as been said before, is that you get pockets of different songs being sung and they don't always join up.

The one thing that I don't think came across on the TV was the drum. Not just any drum, but a drum linked up to the PA system. Now that was contrived. It was not needed, and was plain embarrassing. The Cheatski fans were loving it every time it boomed out.
Thankfully it was dispensed with for the second half. I hope it never returns.

It was very disappointing to not come away from that game with even a point. We deserved more I feel. Had just one of the attempts by Kane, Dembele or Davies hit home, then it would have been very different. Fine margins and all that.
We gifted them their goals and they didn't create many other chances of note, apart from Morata's miss early on, and few nervy moments towards the end of the second half (before the injury time goal).
Wanyama had a bad game, which was especially disappointing given the way he played in the same fixture last season. Clearly not match sharp yet. Trippier too looked off the pace, but I think if he was fit (even if not fully match fit) he had to play over KWP.
Dembele was our best player. As ever, I find myself in awe at how players literally bounce off him.

Disappointing outcome, but many positives to take from the way we played. The Wembley hoodoo rubbish will continue for a while longer but I don't think we have too much to worry about.

Let's just say he wasn't successful and drew a huge gasp from the crowd alongside as he slipped. Fortunately he managed to walk (well, more kind of hobble) away. Eventually.

I haven't read the thread, I couldn't get on the site yesterday.

Interesting that some pundits thought we played well and were unlucky -- I don't feel that way. I don't think we created that much because Chelsea defended well (in a very defensive setup). Our main threat came from Harry making chances for himself, though Dele did a nice bit of skill to set him up when he hit the post first half.

Probably the worst game I've seen from Wanyama, just terrible.

Was very disappointed with how we started the game, first ten minutes. Just allowed Chelsea to walk the ball towards our goal and cross into our box at will, no intensity from us -- set a very bad tone for the game. Morata should have put them 1-0 up during this period, missed the easiest chance of the game imo.

After that period, we controlled possession but we still seemed lethargic against a team that were there for the taking, with players missing and on the back of a terrible first game.

And yet still, at 1-1, we gave ourselves a chance to win the game, yet every player seemed to make bad decisions and contrived to get Chelsea back infront. Once again, in a big game, Hugo is found wanting imo. I honestly think that in these big games, he is our weakest link. When I think of his errors, they always seem to come against top sides where we just can't afford any gifts. As our captain, you'd hope he would be raising his game on these occasions.

Gutted really -- but if we bounce back strong against Burnley, then we can go into the international break with 6 points from 9, a Wembley win and hopefully be ready to get into our stride. We need to get on a good run of wins, like we did last season, but do it early so we can get to the top of the table instead of chasing. We are capable

so disappointing, made the same mistakes as in the cup semi, conceded set pieces in stupid areas with poorly judged challenges, conceded a soft goal due to multiple individual errors and didn't take our chances, for all of the possession we didn't look like scoring and chelsea probably feel it was a comfortable win, we're still too naive in these games

I think the club did a great job with wembley though, build up VT's got everyone going and there was plenty of noise, it felt like a home game, the venue was its usual efficient self, so easy to get in and out, no queuing for a tinkle and even buying a HT beer was quick, I was in the upper tier and the view was great, I'd say there isn't a bad seat in the house
