Danny Rose

I think you are missing the point entirely. No one is saying he shouldn't seek higher wages elsewhere just that this wasn't the way to do it especially off the back of Walker doing the same more or less. It's like he is trying to get his move and destabilise at the same time. If you want your move so badly then request it.

Yeah footballers are a trustworthy and loyal bunch ;)

The only surprise is that any of us are shocked by it.

A club being frugal wouldn't spend 30 million on Sissoko in the first place, surely?

I don't disagree with you regarding the way he's hanbled it at all - I thought his interview at the end of the season was about as close to the edge as you can get.

But with all the money coming into the club, I still don't believe if Levy really wanted to he couldn't top the wages up for Kane etc.

But the 30m is structured in 5 installments as most big deals past a certain price are. So 6m here and there every 6 months isn't a massive deal overall. But offering 100k a week straight out the gate most certainly is a big deal when you are already paying out x amount weekly for all of the other players and you know that by doing that you will make this new player the highest paid at the club. I don't believe it for one minute.

We have seen and heard widespread reports that players are not particularly happy with mid-table wages for being in the top 2/3 in the league. And why should they be? We have maybe 1 more season of winning nothing before the clamour to leave will be tremendous, regardless of the manager.

I can understand that but we cannot afford to pay them more within a sustainable business model.

He's gone in many fans minds and they might as well get rid.
He 'has' handed in a transfer request with this statement.
Sorry to see this but, I hope he does not play for the club again.

You can't really blame this on the media, though I know it's convenient to do so.

We all trsut Poch. He's alsot in the window and we have done anything yet. We've never got to our first game without signing anyone. I can see us getting to the 31st having signed a 3rd choice GK and being told that the players weren't available. We're on the verge on something special but can't do that with a threadbare squad and relying on kids and Dier to cover everyone

What are you basing the bolded text on? A gut feeling or true ITK knowledge? (I know the answer to that, BTW...)

I can understand your - and other posters' - frustration but kneejerking like that is utterly futile IMO and just serves to get yourself wound up and fearing the worst at every given opportunity. You either trust the club or you don't, it's that simple!!

Regarding Rose in particular I would imagine (even though I have no way whatsoever to back this up!!) that this is mostly down to his agent with a nod from Rose himself. I can't believe for one minute that the player (or the rest of our first team for that matter) have suddenly been made aware that the big spending clubs out there pay more in wages than we do, that's been the same for a long time and I guess that with a little on-pitch success and encouragement from the agent this is how they attempt to strong-arm the club.

Will it work or will he go? I guess that's down to Levy & Poch. I doubt either like being held to ransom so I would speculate that if there's no improved contract on the table (which could potentially be a very slippery slope at the moment re the rest of the first team) we might have seen the last of him in a Spurs shirt and I'm OK with that. No one is bigger than the club and I'd guess that if the boss doesn't want them disrupting the squad harmony or thinks that they're not 100% behind the 'project' then they'll be shipped out. We have seen it before & I'm sure we shall see it again more than once.

Whatever happens here will ultimately be best for THFC in the long run, I'm sure, & I for one am not hitting the panic button.

Good on you, Steff, BTW. Excellent post.

exactly and ultimately it always comes down to this playing field that is by no means level.

which is why our scouting department SHOULD be brick hot.

I am not shocked by it at all, the player concerned has always made it known he feels a bit of an outsider because he wasn't loved from the start. I am just shocked that people don't see it for what it is, saying he is just being honest when it is clear he is being honest in part (on the wages and transfers) but deceitful in another way (regarding his real intentions).

Had a quick look - a couple below, but only spent 60 seconds on newsnow. There's various articles where players had said that they're not that bothered about transfers, effectively therefore taking the pressure off Levy is no-one comes in this summer. From Lloris:

Verts saying that its great that others are spending and implicitly that we dont need to

Funny how some on here are quite relaxed about it and some want signings like yesterday.
Just like the players......everyone has their own mind and opinion and don't have to be towing anything.

Sadly i think we have missed the boat the last coupe of years. We had a great chance to win the league but it didnt happen for us. We cant keep playing top players lower salaries. Levy has to break his wage structure otherwise we will never grow as a club. Big companies pay their staff bigger wages so they don't go elsewhere.

Rose's timing is terrible and he should have just got on with getting himself fit. Davies has come in and done a job but Rose is far superior, so if he does go, we will need to replace him.

The likes of

Lloris
Rose
Toby
Jan
Demebele
Eriksen
Dele (maybe)
Kane

they all need to be paid their worth. I cant see much unrest from the likes of Trippier, Dier etc if these guys earn more than them . They deserve it for their footballing displayes

One signing does not prove anything and it is a signing where there have been wildly different reports of the terms. If you look at our transfer spend and our wages over a longer period, it is impossible to argue that we are not being frugal with our money.

Keep him regardless, he has to play it's W/C year next year. If he's tinkled off Poch, Poch WILL play Davies as premier LB and Rose will fall behind and may miss the plane. Not saying England will win it (highly unlikely) - but he would feel a prize plum if he missed the squad and a WC winners medal for the sake of a bricky interview...

The huge differences being that we are not paid thousands each week by the club in the expectation that we will behave professionally, nor do our opinions impact on team morale, or the perception of the club held by others.

Who cares what Danny Rose thinks? i am just enjoying the good times. I remember how things once were.

My low point. 2003. Spurs 0 Emirates Marketing Project 2.

Keller, Carr, Gardner, Bunjevcevic, King, Taricco, Anderton, Davies, Poyet, Keane, Sheringham.

I don't think we managed a shot all game. I think we finished 14th that season.

Good Friday that. Nothing good about it at all. Abysmal team and performance although that's slightly harsh on certain individuals like Poyet

  1. Timing stinks and is disrepectful to the club, his team-mates and his manager
  2. The attitude that he was anything before Poch got hold of him other than a regular left back in a mid table side
  3. The BIG one for me, saying in public that the other players feel the same regarding what they are paid, thats epic level brick stirring

No one on here is undermining their team mates as they prepare for a difficult season opener up at Saudi Sportswashing Machine though when they don't really need to?
