Transfer speculation

I just noticed Gylfi on spursofficial ... please bring him back he would score for fun in this team.

He can do everything Dele Alli can .... runs for hills

I was just about to post about this. Seems very odd to post his best goals for the clubs (even if 5 year anniversary of joining) on the official twitter.

I assume he is coming back. :)

The club is posting all kinds of flimflam on Twitter lately, so I wouldn't just assume we're signing him, to be honest. :)

They did the same with Bale, Crouch and VdV recently. And no, they aren't coming back.

Thought it was £25m plus add ons

The concern I have is their happy to highlight his wages of £100k a week. That's double Toby's money and Toby is twice the player

We as a club really gave to react to changes in wages being paid now

We at so far behind wages for a so called big club.

We will never pay 200 plus - but we do need to hike them a bit

People forget that Siggy couldn't play against a compacted defence.

I think he has everything in his locker and can be coached.

I'm not saying poch is a miracle worker, even though i know it, but i think poch can turn him into a great player. Sort of player that can score goals out of nothing and is a model pro.

Ali is not blessed with pace yet can find space and i think the ice man is intelligent enough to replicate that.

Problem is that he's quite clearly inferior to Alli and they both excel playing the same role. A role others in our team can also play.

Someone who could also play wide would give us more flexibility and improve the chances of the new guy actually getting serious game time.

Right now imagine Siggy on the bench in a game and us needing a goal. Putting him on for Alli arguably makes us worse. And there's really no other position he's likely to play very well. He would be a pure backup to Alli, but even then it might be that others get that game time ahead of him. Contrast that to someone like Josh King who could play either wide role or join Kane up front. If we wanted to replace Alli for whatever reason we could move Eriksen (or Lamela) into Alli's role with King playing wide.

Not saying we should sign King necessarily. But someone a bit more versatile than Sigurdsson would significantly increase our options and perhaps be more likely to actually get that crucial game time to settle in, get match fitness and perform at a high level.

We have passers and creators but we lack a pace option to play in the attacking 3 (a pace option that Poch is happy with). Siggy is a great player but he certainly isn't fast and isn't direct either.

Where would he fit it now??

I know Poch worked miracles with Dembele and Rose (slightly) later in their careers, but Siggy will be 28 at the start of the season and he's no better now than the 23 year old we once signed

We have a more potent attack now and better movement off the ball so opposition teams have more to worry about when playing us so it would be a different scenario for him now than it was back when he first signed.

However I agree that we need pace and trickery over all else atm in our attacking positions as only really Son provides that at the minute

At least Arsenal are only signing Lacazette...

very good player and a hell of a record from the penalty spot... 10 of his last season in his 27

But am I the only one who thought that goal scoring and attacking wasn't their issue let season? For me they still haven't address their central midfield weakness and lack leadership so far and dont appear to be linked with those types of players

Some of the signings at the moment seem odd to me. Pool dont appear to be prorating defenders, Chelsea has been focussing on what was the second best defence in the league, City have signed an unproven keeper and a great player in Silva but haven't so far address their tank defence and lack of centre midfielders of genuine quality IMO. United seem quite scatter gun and Everton have brought a huge amount of unproven talent
