Transfer speculation

they did well to appoint koeman, then the dof walsh from leicester. kinda like we did years ago in what i regard a watershed season with Arnesen, Santini and Jol. I guess Everton are doing better with koeman and walsh who come with EPL experience.

klassen and pickford looks more like calculated investments than expensive gambles. i believe they are due a breakout season and i would expect that soon... perhaps in the next few years.
 
We've been linked with Alfie Mawson, the Swansea center-back. By the Sun, admittedly, but he possibly fits the bill in terms of a Wimmer replacement - young, left-footed, has at least a bit of Prem experience under his belt, presumably technically gifted to some degree. Could be a goer.
 
Daily Mail linking us to Chris Smalling this morning, who apparently is now available after Utd signed that Swedish chap. Didn't realise that he was 27 already - probably rules us out

And that he's one of the worst defenders in the league. Awful player - not even John O'Shea or Wes Brown calibre

Some want to sell Jones instead and some want to get rid of both, but most United fans seem more than happy for him to go as they think he's too error prone.

I agree, i said early last season that i believed Everton were in a good position to progress, new owner, good manager and money to spend on transfers. Everton are a big club who under Moyes etc, lack of investment never pushed on. I can see that changing over the next few seasons.
 
Not sure it matters how much money the owners have these days with FFP - Chelsea got in before the rules and had built their revenue up to what it is now and City find creative sponsors payingwell over market rate to fund their spending, Everton don't have a huge turnover so most likely their spending this year will be reliant on the sales of Barkley and Lukaku - can't see them threatening the top places any time soon tbh

They'll need to play the long game that we did when Enic took over - we had less competition than they have now and we know how long it took us to reach where we are

I have a soft spot for them and I like that they give youth a chance.
 
Out of interest why do people raate Koeman as a manager?

I Hint he is average personally and gets roles off the back of his playing name

IIRC he has only won any trophies as a manager in the ditch league with Ajax who lets engines should walk that league most seasons

At Southampton they didn't progress any further than where Poch took them

Everton were pretty poor IMO against the big sides last season apart from a good win vs city when city were in dissary

He also doesn't last long as a manager at clubs with I think 3 season being his longest term
 
I like the football Koeman plays, not saying I would have him as spurs manager if Poch left. I thought the guy who went to Hull started off well but then it all went wrong for him, As for Koeman he seems better then average to me.

Everton as a club are buying well, Ramirez is another talented signing for decent money a bit like Gueye last season. I see them breaking the top 4 over the next couple of seasons a bit like how we did. I am obviously a spurs man but even if it came at the expense of us it would not massively bother me as I would like to see another different club do something.

Koeman is better than I gave him credit for. I thought he'd be a one or two season wonder, but he's managed to continue momentum at two different clubs.

I rate Poch, Howe and Conte as the best managers in the league (in that order). Koeman would be on my second tier with Klopp and Mourinho (Guardiola beneath that based on what he's shown in England so far)

A Tottenham fan, went to my first game 45 years ago when I was 7. Spent many hours at the lane and more money then I care to remember. I despair at how football has gotten with a somewhat closed shop at the top of the league. Even if it meant we lost out one year(we have lost out many years in my time supporting) it would be nice to see another club break into the top 4 and give hope to other teams and also take football to a more even field where more teams have a chance of winning the league at the start of the season.

I call myself a Tottenham fan but I think we come in all shapes and sizes(a lot of XXL amongst our crowd haha)
 
I think Koeman so far has done as much as he could at Everton and think he is a good manager. As i have said elsewhere they ARE a big club and as long as the new owner keeps to his word about investing in the squad i do think they will do well over the next few years.
