Harry Kane MBE

Anyway, first time watching Spurs with a relatively new missus, and I can't help feeling that Kane and the rest may have set the standard a little too high as it's hard to put in to context exactly how quality Kane was last night without much experience but also hard to dampen expectations; Either she is a good luck charm or maybe we will generally just start beating teams away from home by 6 each time....Either way you total bastards are welcome.

Your new missus is one to keep.

Turns put Harry Kane was very ill in Hong Kong but still made the effort to play and engage with PR duties.

The president of Kitchee said this (post-translation!):
"A lot of fans didn’t think Harry Kane was going to practice. He wasn’t expected to show up in the game, but he was still kicking 15 minutes.

Many people do not know that when he arrived in Hong Kong, he had been infected with an unknown virus and the second day of arrival in Hong Kong was admitted to the hospital.

Since his vomiting was very serious, the body lacked water, so he had to hang salt water and eventually stayed in the hospital for one night.

A lot of team activity and pre-game practice has not been attended, but the heat stabbed for Harry and the fans, and eventually he kicked him for minutes."

Question, Do you think Kane would have reach the heights he has if we had not had Poch in charge?

No, one of Kane's early flaws was he would do a "Robbie Keane", i.e. if he didn't receive service he would drop deep to collect the ball and that would give him less time in a dangerous position.

He still will drop deep or go wide, but the team setup allows for it and players (Dele/Eriksen/Son) will run beyond him.

SSN reporting Kane stating his ambition is to win the Ballon Dd'Or:

'I want to be in world class bracket. I'm not there - I have to prove it on the international stage. To win the Ballon d'Or isn't just individual though, it's about your team winning trophies.

'Hopefully I can do that with Tottenham. I'd do whatever I can to win that big gold trophy'

H'mm. I think we can take it from that statement that if we fail to win a trophy in the next couple of seasons then he's off.

I don't read it that way at all.

He plays for Tottenham
He wants Tottenham to win trophies
He hopes to win the Ballon D'Or whilst playing for Tottenham and winning trophies.

Nothing more in it, imo.

Depends how you interpret that last sentence I suppose. What comes through to me is that winning the Ballon d'Or is even more important to him than staying at Tottenham. If he can win it with Tottenham, all well and fine, but if not he will look elsewhere.

Either way I just do not see him sticking around for another three seasons if he still hasn't a single trophy to show for it.

And i do not think he will be the only one either. Despite what some fans think players DO WANT to win trophy's.

it was a tap in really

a diagonal into the box should have been dealt with by the D

Kane took it at waist height, keeper could easily have come and taken it higher, didn't read the flight at all well

if scotland score that goal the narrative would have been about Hart rather than the scorer

Well let's not get carried away, he missed a couple when it was 0-0 you'd expect him to score....

Harder to score at the death ... character.

As a striker you will miss .... but you will be remembered for last minute goals under pressure.

I won't get carried away ... one season wonder
