I've known hundreds of football fans from clubs all round Britain and find most of them amiable, but put them in a group of fellow club supporters and the tribal mentality kicks in and they turn to arseholes and I include Spurs fans in that mob.

That comparison isn't a valid one. Protected groups are protected groups because they don't choose to be what they are. Race, gender, sexuality, etc. - none of these are choices and are therefore off limits for singling people out on that basis.

Scousers are clams by choice - they deserve all they get.

you would be right except you have to be a special kind of arsehole to support a winning team from up north in the first place (especially as it wasn't really done before hand). Just like all people are tossers but if you chose to be a traffic warden...
 
60m for Van Dijk? He's decent but that sounds like a lot. I put him in the same class as Lovren, so they'll have a good center back pairing, but 90m's worth, I'm not so sure? I'd def take Jan and Toby over that.

I just don't understand the short-sighted view people have got with traffic wardens, do they not realise the utter chaos there would be without parking control and enforcement. The roads are full of people who don't give a toss about anyone else and if they were not controlled they would leave their cars in the middle of the road.

You're forgetting he scored a few goals before being injured, therefore the media said he was a good defender. I don't watch Southampton, but when we've played them he's looked average with a preference for thumping it anywhere, with the occasional dribble. A real YouTube footballer.
 
He's too good for them, but if they are spending £60m on one player then good. Will give them less spending power elsewhere and he's not enough to significantly boost their team.

I just used it as a trope, I don't care either way -

there is nothing wrong with the job of traffic wardens however there certainly is something wrong with wanting to be a traffic warden, debt collector etc.

It's because of that attitude we have to have so much immigration in this country, too many people thinking job are below them or their expectations. Without people doing the crap jobs our society would implode. Far too many "me" people who just want instant gratification.

So why shouldn't people be traffic wardens or debt collectors? Some people may want to be a tv presenter or pop star but can't get the gig so have to support their families by doing crap jobs, Why shouldn't people pay money they owe or is that just ok for bankers and con men.

even if I was having a go at a crap job rather than the type of person who would WANT to do the job (i.e. the trope of "little hitlers"), linking my dislike for a job or even disdain for a job "to much immigration" is just looking for an argument - as long as I work why would any disdain for a job matter.
