I know it wouldn't stop the attacks, but I really think there should be legislation passed to prevent rolling news coverage of them. Stop giving these ar5eholes the oxygen of publicity, there is no need for these incidents to completely dominate the news and the sensationalism of it all needs to end. That way at least, you minimise the 'terror' of their attack in wider society.

It's a shame it would never happen.
But I'm sure something could done to stop/temper this type of ghoulish news pornography!

we're in the age of rolling news, but, why is it felt that news reporters need to be there, the police on the ground are not going to say anything more than the official line and eye witness statements are massively unreliable (and like crowd sourced media lack context), it makes the job of the police harder with all these extra people to worry about, they could give the same coverage from the studio

Could have been a lot worse in such a dense area.
Thank goodness we also have some of the strictest gun laws in the world, can't imagine the carnage had they been armed with Kalashnikovs etc.

Police did a magnificent job killing the attackers within 8 minutes.

Time to make the families pay for the crimes of the assassins like the Israelies do.

My daughter-in-law was in Jamie's Italian at London Bridge when it happened, the staff and customers were kept in the restaurant till about 11 then evacuated away from the area. She said there wasn't any panic from what she saw, only people not familiar with the area worrying about getting home as traffic was being stopped. She got home to Sidcup by 12.30. Most people in the restaurant were checking on their phones to see what was happening and the emergency services were more concerned with moving people to safety than telling them what had happened, which is only right. We all sat up to about 3am as the incident had distressed us.

It's very difficult for the media to give all the information the public want in these situation, but it is important that they are present and can show what limited information they can get. That's what being free means, we are allowed to know about this type of thing.

I don't think that is fair and I don't think that it would work. There is no amount of money that can compensate for the loss of a loved one and the only people to blame for the actions are the perpetrators.

You are right of course but I'm out of ideas how to give these perpetrators a conscience before they embark on this madness.
A shock tactic is required

A shock tactic would just be another recruiting tool.

We need to do more to tackle the causes of radicalisation. Continue to build cohesion between different communities and challenge people who try to divide us.

In terms of media coverage, how these things are covered always brings to my mind this piece from Newswipe

I agree of course with the general sentiment of your post but I have to ask, what of those who enable and/or support them?

I think that would make them a perpitrator

In which case, I agree entirely with the statement.

I originally interpreted it to mean the 3 scumbags alone however, which would be something I would find much harder to support (dependent upon the specific circumstances of course).

Gerard on the video above seems a bit of a legend, he cashed after them throwing whatever he could at the cowards

Also the cabbie who tried to run the attackers down too

Looks like the time for action is now and not worrying more about hurting people's feelings than making our country safe, about fudging time
