Europa League 2016/17

No disrespect to the victims and their families, and it was horrible and a massive tragedy, but can I suggest that tonight's game of football has nothing to do with the terrorism that occured a couple of days ago?
Had to turn it off in the end, BT were really embarrassing themselves, like a game of football is going to salve Manchester's ills in any way. Complete bunch of clams.

Ajax looked a bit like we used to look when some brick cloggers like West Brom would roll up and park the bus and we'd play in front of them for 70 minutes to no effect and concede one from a free kick.

Wouldn't swap our season for theirs, personally. I would like to win stuff, but watching us has been tremendous fun this year and feels like another step forward, I'm happy with that. Every time I've seen them this year they've bored the arse off me. Surely Man Utd of old would've steamrollered that Ajax team, not that they'd have been in the Europa League to begin with.

If this job follows the others, he has to do that next year because the following year either the players or the board have enough of him and he gets the boot.

I'm not sure that he's got it in him any more and I think this team is further from the title than most he has managed.

Fair points, but I do think he'll get more leeway here just because they are so aware of what happened to Liverpool, and he has shown this season he still has it, the way they shut down Chelsea, and only losing by a single goal to us, not 5 or 6 like everybody else ;)

As long as they are winning stuff I don't think they will really care.

For a club that hasn't won much in since Enic has taken over, we are precious about style of play in finals.

I guess the question is would you take United seasons over ours?

Think I would, for all the goals and good football we didn't win anything
If Spurs played like that, I'd have stopped watching football long time ago. Watching paint dry is more exiting than that shower of brick! Football is about entertainment, and united are about as entertaining as a hairy mole.

It's about a winning mentality, teams like United win things. Until we start winning things we can't be so choosey. Would people really rather finish 4th than win cups? What sort of memories are they?

Quite

Who really recalls that Leeds team that got to the cl semi?

Only reason Saudi Sportswashing Machine are remembered is for being bottlers and as a joke.

The longer we go on without winning things the harder it becomes.

I would be happy to play like that if it meant the title.

For years we were in the EL, couldn't win it, and granted now with the CL as another carrot to dangle, it's become another Cup to win. Sure, we want to play with style, we are great going forward and at the back.

Time to win things.

I don't think so, because it's not really about the last few years on the pitch, hence why Milan are still "up there".

They are the storied clubs, others have flirted, but football has a long memory.

As for Jose, take a look at his CV, particularly second seasons, I'm putting my house on a united title next season.

Can see past Chelsea with City coming up on rails.
The rest will take points of off Man U.

It's between Chelsea and City imho

They've won two trophies and that's what it's all about. It's our lack of trophies that rival fans like to taunt us about. Yes we are the more attractive side but it's about being winners. Ultimately the best players are more likely to go to the team that's wins honours too.

They will not listen ;)

I remember both teams as good football sides but I could not tell you who won the league cup during the seasons that they missed out on the title.

It is nonsense to say that the longer we go without winning, the harder it gets. Our players are not part of some hive mind that holds memories of failures past.

Our players must be buzzing right now, confident that they can beat anyone and counting down the days until next season starts. It's that attitude that wins you trophies.

A young Mourinho would have laughed any manager out of town for trying to claim that the Charity Shield counted as part of a treble.

So, you regularly sit and watch West Brom then?

Man United play better football than West Brom, a title is a title - we are not in a position to be picky how we win at the moment.

You will never get everyone to 100% agree on that.

The same argument of a cup or CL....

Would you swap our season with United's?

Well they are in the CL ( just like us) but from what i have been told they will have a better seeding then us as well, and they have also won two trophys so being honest yes. We are the better team but it means nothing unless we win something sooner rather then later.

So if Arsenal win the Fa cup are they a better team?

Man U. only bothered with EL due to poor showing in the league.

Yes I want to win every game thus a cup or whatever! But we are building for a strong future, Arsenal and Man U are trying hang on to their past.

I'm not so sure though. I mean they have the Champs league to draw players to them and the money to pay the wages for those players. Mourinho won't build an expansive side, but he will keep them in a tight shape, whilst expecting his stars (whoever they may be) to go out and win games on their quality alone.
