I quite like him, I think Poch is after someone like him seeing as we were linked with Andre Grey as well, it seems we are after that sort of striker.
I do like the look of Schick as well but if we got one of Grey and King and Schick that would leave us with 3 strikers and we would have to of course release Janssen.

Just because I can't name a player that is cheap that can run about a bit doesn't mean traore is the answer.
He may burst by a player and then have no end product ... we did a lot of that in the 90's.
I'd rather have a boat of a player that can actually be affective with the ball rather then say "oooh he is quick"

Obviously Poch is looking for pace and directness in the squad ... see N'Jie, GKN, Sissoko.
However I do share @Gazza's concern that like the 3 above, some of those we are linked with seem to be light on end product.
Question I would ask is, could we expect the new player to provide the kind of impact that Son does?

Josh King is no slouch, and has demonstrated 'end product' - goals mainly. His goals seem to fall into two categories: worldies and tap ins. Maybe that's a bit unfair, I haven't seen all his games and goals. King, Zaha, Mane, all fast punchy players who can carry the ball, so yes Poch does seem to want this kind of player.
Thing is King is actually a month older than Eriksen, and this is the first season in his career he's scored more than 5 goals
Zaha is similar age (24 instead of 25), with two decent seasons and a 1 in 8 type scoring ratio
I believe in Poch, but 25 year old players who have never shown anything more than the occasional highlight reel at 30M+ type price ranges that won't walk into the first team?
I'd prefer a 19-21 year old that Poch could mold earlier and we could get more time out of.

Hence Traore, who might have a higher ceiling. But we're all far too fussy imo. I thought Mane was excellent last season, but most on here turned their noses up. Any of those players would work for us I think. If I could choose one, I'd take Zaha (excluding Mane who's not possible). He's the most experienced, and is a proper handful. He has pace, can carry the ball, and now has end product - something maybe he didn't before. You might argue King has a better strike on him as shown this season = signing him might bring more goals than Zaha.
@Gazza GKN got sub appearances and Traore could become more rounded than Lennon was imo. He has a Wanyama like build. He could be a hard working athlete, with lethal counter attacking ability. To be fair Lennon learned to track back himself, and become a hard working committed player.

I feel that players with that sort of potential should come from our academy directly. Even if they don't play they get an experience. First hand. I know we have some real gems in our setup.
Failing that, we should go find players that have a bright future and have proved it in whatever top league at one time or another. They don't all have to be super expensive either.
I like the idea of having a pacey player that can hit teams on the break. I think that's what we thought when we got sissoko. That sub or starter that can influence the opposition.
Now if this role is so important i would rather pay the money like we did on sissoko for someone that we hope to develop or is a proven genuine talent. We paid/ negotiated a price of 30mil, so I'm sure if flogged sissoko we could buy at a similar price No?
The team needs options and quality ones to add to this current mob. I don't think we can afford to put that on Adama traore. He can't even break into a poor Boro team or previously at Villa. Both teams should be counter attacking teams looking to over power them.
In 115 appearances he has scored 1 goal. In an U17 game. For an attacking player his stats are tinkle poor. I'm sure there are better players better suited at this role for the same money. Again I'd rather pay 7mil for a player with potential backed by numbers vs 5mil on a punt.
I believe sissoko will be gone this summer and that should free up some money ... more than enough to buy a quick intelligent player that can fit the role.
There is talk of Douglas Costa going for 25m .... I would love for us to go in for him if that's what poch wants.

The difference between Lennon and Traore is quite a big one IMO. Lennon generally took the right option and created a decent number of goals. Traore tends to run with the ball until he loses it. At first it looks quite impressive as he tends to draw fouls and therefore win free kicks, but as the opposition realise that there is zero end product they just let him run into his blind alley.
You talk about Mane in your next post. I would've happily had Mane at Spurs when Liverpool signed him. I didn't like his diving and his ball control was sometimes a bit erratic but he could both score and create goals and that is what you are always looking for in an attacking player. Traore certainly has skill, but doesn't have vision IMO. I don't think he will make it at a top 4 club such as Spurs, perhaps Arsenal would be an option for him?

We probably had one already ourselves in Nathan Oduwa.... OK he isn't as quick or powerful as Traore, but has more skill and dribbling ability. Just as unlikely to make it as a top level footballer however.

It's not just pace. There is bags of skill (all be it unrefined often without end product. He's sometimes literally too quick for himself, and maybe his team mates). But had 'boro had a better team, he would have had more assists without question.
@Gazza Bale had pretty rubbish stats in his first few seasons with us. We didn't win a game with him for how long? You have to look beyond the obvious to uncover value for money. Otherwise you're paying 30m+ and serious wages.
Edit: this is probably a better video as its his involvement in a whole game. You can see that with better players, some of the chances he's creating would be finished. You should also be able to see he can pass the ball. He is raw and inconsistent (other games have probably not been as good). But has clear clear ability. So surprised people can't see it.

And i believe this is the biggest problem for him. Having worked for years at academy level with youngsters you can improve most parts of their game as a coach, the one thing that is near impossible to teach them is real vision and its has to be a natural skill. It can be done with the best players but i do not think Traore is showing any sign of that. ( imo).

I get a little irked by the claims that Bale looked poor for us initially. That wasn't the case at all. When Bale initially came in under Jol he looked absolutely brilliant. He then suffered a few injuries and also had to be toughened up a little but he didn't ever look a poor footballer. Bale may have had poor stats in terms of the team winning games in which he played, but a lot of that was incidental (and I think many of the games were fleeting performances at the end). It was clear straight away that Bale he was a good passer of the ball and had quality in terms of his delivery.
