The Goon Thread

Arsenal supporters plan to hire a plane to tow a banner protesting against a new contract for boss Arsene Wenger when the team play at West Brom on Saturday. (Birmingham Mail)

Wouldn't that be the kiss of death in their search for a new manager? What half decent manager would take the job with the ghost of christmas past looking over his shoulder.
Yeah maybe but it might be a less drastic move than firing Wenger outright. The influence he has can be tempered if handled correctly.

I'd love us to come round the corner and run those clams down the street.....the ungrateful, undeserving, fickle shoal of goldfish.

Lovely turn of phrase. Second useful one I've learned this week. The other would be "Don't be afraid to fire a client."

Could do with a few ejector seats over at the Death Star.

They need a clean break, and his greatest weakness is signing players imo...so lets hope they keep him...

Man, I really am in such a bind over enjoying all the delicious schadenfreude. On the one hand, it's never a bad thing when the Goons lose. On the other, the more they crumble, the less likely Wenger is to stay. And, on yet another hand (three hands :p ), even if Wenger stays, he has that 'finishing above Spurs' juju going for him, so we're sort of stuck in a bind either way. :p

I want him to stay. They'll tick along.

But there is no doubt that when it comes to replace him they could really face a sticky patch (like Utd). What i don't want, is that patch to coincide with a potential sticky patch for us. ie when we move stadium twice.

I'd rather him do 2 more seasons, by then end of that we'll be comfortably accustomed to our new behemoth....and the aim would be to drive home a lasting power shift in North London.
