Poch mentioned in a recent interview that Eriksen was now more 'aggressive in possession'. What I think he is getting at here is that Eriksen is more progressive when in possession of the ball, a sentiment that I would wholeheartedly agree with. He's now driving forward with the ball and passing forward way more than previously. He is making things happen whereas before he was more than willing to pass the responsibility on to another player.

A point that is often overlooked as he has been on the scene since a very young age.
I noticed another thing in the last couple of matches which I hadn't seen before, and that is he has been directing his team mates to close down or make a run (I'm guessing that is the gist of it from the pointing). He hasn't done it very often but he has done it a few times in the last two matches. It may be coincidental but it seems to me that this has coincided with his upturn in form. Joining the dots I'd say Poch has been in messing with his brain to try and get more out him - "you are the main man...you need to control the match...be more more aggressive in possession"...type stuff. Whatever he said, it is working.

As some of us ( not GB ) have maintained, Eriksen is key to the way we play. When he plays well, the team do too. Similarily, when he was off his game, as earlier this season, the team often looks torpid.
Even his free-kicks now seem to carry more threat, whereas earlier this season they were mostly just off-target whaffted efforts.
Now he just needs to get his act together on corners. When was the last time we scored from one of these in the Prem by the way?

The problem with his corners is that it seems to be part of a plan, front post flick on or whatever. Never works though so try something else guys, please.

It works with Toby - he got a couple of those glancing headers last season, and Monaco at home immediately comes to mind as another one from this season. He's just a supremely effective header of the ball.
Where it breaks down, though, is when he isn't around - Dier is pretty good in the air, but no one else in the team is remotely as good as Toby in that situation.

Or the other way around? When the team plays well, he plays well too? (Of course most likely both are true to some extent).
Eriksen isn't the type of player to turn dust to gold (Bale, Ginola, Berbatov etc). He needs service. When the team provides him service in terms of giving him the ball in the final third with a bit of space and time to work his magic Eriksen keeps delivering. When our buildup play fails us Eriksen struggles to deliver the goods.
His set piece delivery, except for direct free kicks, has never been consistently top class. Most of his Spurs career Lamela has been superior at this and neither are truly top class imo.

Actually, that suggests he's maintaining a degree of consistency as well, since it represents an average of roughly 8 goals and 8 assists per season, whereas so far this term he's on 5 and 4, respectively. Puts the gripes in perspective.
Problem with the gripes on this board is it seems to be all or nothing ... either he's WC or he's brick and we should play some 12 year old instead ...
Truth is
- Eriksen is one of the better midfield players in the PL (8+8 would be record most PL midfielders would kill for), and a key component of our side
- He is young and unfinished, lots more potential if he develops right.
I think Poch is pushing him right, last couple of games he definitely was little more aggressive offensively, getting into the box, making good shots. To me the big thing with Eriksen is he has to occasionally step out of that team player role and grab the game by the scruff and make change happen, if he does that, and does it consistently, he becomes an elite player, not just a very good one.

I , for one, don't think he is either WC ( yet) or brick. What frustrates me with him, is that I see that he has the potential to be WC but he isn't yet delivering consistently. When he adds consistency and the game changing potency of "turning dust into gold" then he will truly be WC. To score some direct free kicks like a couple of seasons ago would be a great step in the right direction to make him a game changer.
Once he adds consistency and genuinely turns world class he won't remain here unfortunately....

Whaaaat? He had two assists and hit the crossbar - as well as had other chances for goals and assists. He ran the game for us and was hugely instrumental in our 4-1 win. Super performance.
