Spurs v Monaco OMT

Might as well play the under 15 team in the last game to just get rid of Europe. We don't care about CL, so why bother with the EL

Well. Something tells me there wont be 85k at Wembley for the last match

Can see it being very empty. I got a ticket for all 3 group games and generally would turn up regardless but i don't think I have the time or money to turn up to watch a pointless game in a competition we've offered virtually nothing in.

Going out straight away I can accept and move on from but it's the gutlessness and seeming lack of desire that I can not forgive.

We are starting to look worryingly 'AVB'esque' these days. How many bloody times did Tripper play the ball backwards?

So slow and laboured in going forward every single time.

We have done all season pretty much

It's not a style that suits us yet it's seems to be the style of choice

I dont have a problem with most of the line-up tonight, but we tried the starting formation on Sat in the first half and it was dreadful, then he changed to 4-2-3-1 at HT an it was a lot better. However he's gone back to the formation which didnt work tonight

Eh. There's a *lot* wrong with our European performances which I can't quite explain. It just makes me embarrassed that we've proven so, so poor against comparable opposition. When we were drawn in this group, I expected a tight six games with plenty of competition.

But we've just been utterly schooled in every game save for CSKA away, and there we were mostly turgid. Save for Toby and Lloris, *every* one of our players has proven utterly, irredeemably inferior to his continental counterparts. And Poch .... what have you done?

You know, one of the arguments about England's decline in European competitions is that the big clubs (United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, City) not being there consistently has led to smaller clubs getting into the CL and embarrassing themselves and the Premier League in general. I never subscribed to that, and still don't (look at Leicester). But *we* have embarassed ourselves and the Premier League with our performances. Tottenham Hotspur has proven that it didn't deserve to be here.

And that hurts. Might as well have stayed in the fudgeing EL if that's the level we're comfortable with.

It isn't our youth. Monaco's team were hardly younger than us. Is it our quality? Is it our manager? Is it just that we're not as good as we think we are, saved by a few key players performing? I don't know. Like I said, there's a *lot* wrong with how dismally, abysmally we've collapsed in Europe.

But I do know that Harry Redknapp has now conclusively sh*t all over Poch in terms of how great he made us look in Europe. And that hurts too, because Poch brings so many other positives that Harry never brought - but where Harry's team thrilled and overcame massive odds to emerge top of their debut CL group while thrashing the CL *champions*, Mauricio Pochettino's team has humiliated themselves and the PL with how undeniably awfully, helplessly, brainlessly they've gone out against a group which we looked capable of at least competing with. :(

And this is on Poch, no doubts about it. He got the players he wanted, and got a net spend Harry was *begging* for in his last few years. Levy backed his man, so I don't have to make excuses for him. Poch failed, as much as the team did

I just....I dunno. It's hard to think about how inferior we've been. And it leads to some troubling questions which shouldn't have to be asked - questions that relate to how we did last season. I always maintained that, despite our relative overperformance, in absolute terms, we only finished on 70 points, which Redknapp managed in 2009-2010, AVB exceeded in 2012-2013 and which all our recent managers have more or less managed to hover at for five or six-odd years. Did we *really* exceed ourselves last season, or was it just performing at par in a season where everyone else underperformed?

It's a question that I've been open about, and which has lurked in the back of my mind. I hoped to dismiss it entirely. But it's difficult to do so after...after the sort of capitulation we've just seen.

All I can say is thank GHod I didn't quite have enough loyalty points to get a ticket.

That is up there with the worst performances I have ever seen us give in Europe. 7 - 1 would've been a fair result there. Thank you Hugo Lloris for stopping things being an absolute embarrassment to the club.

What annoys me more than anything is that it looked as though Monaco had more desire than us.

Pochettino (as much as I love him) has to take a lot of the blame for failing to play his strongest available side in every game we've had.

Also how brick is Dier this season? He is an absolute liability at centre half. GHod help us if we pair Wimmer and Dier against Chelsea on Saturday.

I wonder whether some of those who would never give him any credit will realise what a good job Redknapp did in getting us to the quarter finals the last time we were in the competition? Pochettino has failed pretty spectacularly this time out.

I can only imagine how brick the dead rubber against CSKA will be at a probably no more than half full Wembley with two teams that probably both want to avoid the Europa League. That is £100 well spent there on tickets for my Dad, my son and I.

Nope. Not a thing. We play tomorrow.
hmmm, sounds like we ALL thought that ! Honestly wet spam and Monaco, especially the way they have been playing this season - heaven and earth, a HUGE difference in quality. They have been good at home all season, n'est pas ?

We are going to have to do something special on Sunday at le chavs.

YOUR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, IT'S GONE.

Absolutely embarrassing, whole country laughing they're heads off at us yet again. Whole lot of them, bar Lloris at least, absolutely useless and gutless, f***ING terrible.

I'm not convinced

We haven't looked like a side This season who want it at this level

We haven't shown any hunger whereas last season we did it almost every game
That's where the in form bit comes in. I agree we've rarely looked like our former selves this season, but I think its got to do with us not really hittong form so far this season.

Remember we were without 3/4 of our defence, we have Lamela out, Kane just returning from injury, no Dier in his stand out position from last season and Eriksen looking a shadow of his former self.

No excuses, of course, even with a second string team we should've seen a better performance today. But I honestly think we would have won today if we had played our best team like we saw them last season.

Guess it shows our squad isn't really good enough to rotate and still compete at this level.

Someone needs to man up and tell Poch that we got rid of AVB for good reason.

What is his masterplan? Fanny around, stand off, capitulate, jog?

I find Poch's press conferences crashingly dull but I assume that is on purpose, so he doesn't say anything to hit the headlines. But Jesus, do the players truly want this, or are they just playing a game of football, quick sip of Lucozade, back on the bus?

Didn't you get the memo? Redknapp was a brick coach, should've won the league with Bale and Modders. :p
Sorry, I'm tinkled off.

No knee jerk. We were woeful and have been al season except for City. Our transfer business was poor. Some seem to think they have already made it - Dier, Eriksen and Alli in particular. No passion, no intensity, void of ideas and pace. Too reliant on Harry and Hugo. We have really regressed - -and this time without the loss of a Carrick, Berbs, Moders or Bale to blame it on. Hugely disappointing.

Don't understand why walker and verts were not playing.
I have read in several places that Walker can't play two games in a week. And while I like Trippier and his superhero mask he's not an adequate replacement. The team selection suggested Poch and the club prioritize getting in to the CL and not winning it. I hope to GHod he plays all reserves in the EL.
