Thats the issue. It was the same last season. We started off slow.
In the past we played 5-6 pre season friendlies. Under Poch its 3.
The idea is probably to save legs for the end of the season.
But we sent out a very rusty team. Only 2 players (Wanyama and Lamela) had played more than 90 minutes in the last 6 weeks.

At least 5 as far as I know.

First paragraph of Guardian's story:

"Tottenham should have won this game and they know it. Everton were the most obliging of opponents, slightly fortunate to take an early lead and positively delusional if they imagined they would be able to hang on to it for 85 minutes. In the end they were glad of a point, so small was their share of the game and so limited their attacking efforts, while Spurs will be satisfied with the result but acutely aware they could have done better."

Pretty fair

what's funny about that is that in my opinion that was the easiest game Everton will have this season, we were rubbish

They will see worse. We weren't bad, just lacking a bit in effort. You won't see the Everton players this fired up for too many games though.

We always seem to draw with the Toffees these days. I agree pretty much with the consensus on the performance. Lamela and Alderweireld our two MotM candidates, with the goal edging it for me. Dier, Rose and Walker decent. I thought the latter blotted his copy-book in the first half, it being his casual pass that led to the free kick Barkley scored from, although on the other hand, it really might have been any of them at that stage of the game. Eriksen, Kane and Alli well below par. Nice to see Janssen making a positive impact when he came on. Plenty of work to be done before we face Palace.

dont be paranoid.....Everton players will be regularly fired up because they have a good manager now.

you still cant accept that Koeman is a good manager despite all he did at Southampton. Completely irrational dislike

All he did at Southampton was carry on with what was already in place. The rest of his career is one of big spending, moaning, failure and running away.

that free kick ... wanyama was more at fault as it was still in a pretty harmless position

rose had a worse backpass that while did not result in a goal, was just poor

We will win this. I can sense it.

Getting ready for the match coverage to start 16.30 our time.
A really good time for a game. It means:

- We can watch on the rooftop terrace.
- 3 mates with their partners coming over.
- Cold Tusker lagers in the rooftop fridge for the guys. A jug of Pimms ready for the ladies plus wine
- BBQ ready to be fired up. Fillet steak, chicken tikka and red snapper already marinated.
- If things are looking bad, we can always look at the Indian Ocean to calm ourselves :)

We will win this 2-1. Kane & Alli.

Sorry guys. My prediction was not correct.
Not gutted but sad. According to some quacks we are the top side not to win our opening game :(

Anyway, we are having a good time. Sizzling food is coming from the BBQ.
Tusker lager is still going strong. :)
The ladies are happy, as no one has to drive home. the 3 mates and partners are staying overnight
and leave after a hearty breakfast.
My "Man Friday", or cook / helper who was an Arsenal supporter is now supporting Spurs. Maybe that is because
I don't allow him to watch any other games apart from Spurs.

Could / should have been a better result, but I will take a draw.

pure bollox.....what he took over was a club had most of its best players that wanted to leave and they did leave. He helped rebuild the side and went on to have a better season than his predecessor. They played good football, his tactics are varied to suit who they are playing which shows his flexibility. Well organised and a threat going forward.

whatever he had done previously in his career he has obviously learned from his mistakes because at Southampton he only spent what they got from sales, he never moaned, didnt fail, and tbf he left a well established club to now go to a club which is in a worse state than Southampton.

did he sleep with your wife or something which stirs this hatred?

How did we play? Got the impression we were brick for 80 mins, then created a few chances and got a draw in the end.

How serious did lloris injury look?

Bloody wedding, didn't get to see anything.
