Tottenham Hotspur FC v Swansea City AFC OMT

It's fantastic. And the absolute last thing I would want is a big profile signing that doesn't fit the Pochettino profile. We have real competition for places and/or quality cover in all positions except possibly the lone striker role and in goal. And even in those positions we're reasonably well covered. And that's 18 months after we barely had 4-5 first choice players we were happy with, never mind actually quality cover and competition for places almost across the board.

Quite a lot of those positions and competitions for places has been sorted out with a bit of patience and player development. I would suggest a bit more patience and player development as the solutions for the pieces still missing rather than a "just bloody sign someone, anyone" attitude.

Things might be on an upward spiral at the club but there no denying not signing Berahino this summer was a huge fudge up. They wanted 25m at the start of the summer. We bid 25m on the last day.
There is huge pressure on Kane to deliver goals that he didn't need.

One bit of advice id give anyone is not to use the OMTs on GG as any kind of reference for how a game played out...

Luckily I do not have to do that but you are spot on as on occasions I do read some of the game threads once I get back from a game. I will say one thing though the threads on here are no way as bad as some other boards. So much hysterical nashing of teeth and player abuse which is farcical ( imo).

Really enjoyed the game and had a laugh with a few Swansea supporters in the pub afterwards, two good sides who try and play the game and they were a good test for us. A few of their supporters told us that it was the best they have played all season and hope they can keep it up.

As for us we once again showed that we are growing as a team, players like Davies, Lamela are showing vast improvement and we are begining to do things as a team that will bring us success if we stick at it. Our back four is looking really strong -(including the much maligned Walker) and Dier ( although not one of his best games) has made us look a lot tighter then last season.

Alli will become a top player but he will be inconsistent because of his age and there were times yesterday when he got caught out trying to do too much but as I said as he gets older and more used to the pace of the Prem he will become better at picking his moves. Great to see Eriksen get back on the score sheet, for me he is our most creative player and some of the stick he gets from some is unbelievable ( imo).

Poch is finally molding the team into a solid unit but because of the workload and the age of some of the players it will sometimes not be as consistent as some fans demand, but we should stick with it because it is begining to show that we are a good side and the future looks promising. Once we get our injured players back ( Bentalb, Mason, Son) and the likes of Nije, Wimmer get more experience we have a lot to look forward to.

I do think the team is playing consistent. We've been better than any of our opponents. Individual players are those that have been inconsistent, but not the team as a whole.

I agree with that but it can ( sometimes) take one player to have a off day to effect up a system like ours.

I mostly agree with you here. However we do not have another number 9 option currently at the club. I think it is for this position that we do have to go out and sign somebody. I would rather bring in true competition for Kane here, but as that sort of player will be so hard to get we may have to settle for somebody who can just give him a rest or allow us to substitute Kane/drop him back into the number 10 role without completely changing the team dynamic.

Sometimes it really is that simple.... Had an early bid gone in and been left on the table I think Mr Pullis would've been all over his chairman wanting spend some of that money.... but we've done this one to death already and it probably doesn't make sense to go over it again.

You are right that it can work like that. With this one it is a bit harder to say with any certainty what happened and what the barriers were.

Very disappointed with this draw. Just like the Stoke, Leicester and Everton games, this is another 2 valuable points lost ! We are simply drawing too many games that we should be winning ! This is a game we should have won but again we just cannot kill teams off despite playing well. After the brilliant win over ManCity last week, it is disappointing we didn't follow that up with another win. And 4th seems like a jinx number to us. We always can't seem to get 4 consecutive wins in the league ! Apparently we have never beaten any PL teams more than 7 times in a row. After winning our last 7 matches against Swansea, we had a chance to do it but have wasted it in a typical Spurs way !

The disappointing thing is we played well and had many chances to kill this game off but we just failed to do that. Annoyingly, we were trying to walk the ball into the net most of the times ! We had to rely on 2 world-class free kicks from Eriksen to get both our goals ! Credit to Eriksen for scoring both the goals ! It is great to see Eriksen scoring again after so long ! In fact, Eriksen was the only one looking like scoring our goals. He badly needed those goals as it was his first goals in 13 matches for us. Before this match, he had only scored 1 goal in 25 matches for us. Hope these goals will boost his confidence to go on another goal-scoring run like early last season.

We could have won this match with Eriksen's goals if not for the stupid own goal by Kane. This is why I always don't like the forwards to to get involved in defending ! They tend to do something stupid when defending ! It was a school boy mistake by Kane. Lloris could have handled the ball if Kane had let it pass him. With the bad form he is in, it seems like nothing is going in Kane's favour right now ! Lamela didn't have much impact in this match. But was really disappointed Pochettino replaced him with Townsend so early in the 2nd half. With the form he was in before this match, Lamela should have stayed on atleast until the 70th min. Townsend did play well but he simply don't have the end product like Lamela. He wasted a good chance to score when he hit it straight at the goalie and also should have passed to an unmarked Njie late in the match as well.

We had the joint-best defensive record while Swansea had only scored 1 goal in 4 matches before this. Yet, we let them score 2 against us ! Really disappointed with the defence for their first goal. While the defence cannot do anything about Kane's blunder for the second goal, they should have better for the first goal. It was annoying to see the Swansea player having the free header without getting challenged. Big credit to Lloris and the goal post for the match-saving world class save late in the match. It would have been unacceptable if we had lost due to that goal as Swansea didn't have many chances.

We could have gone to 4th place if we had won this match. It is not nice being in 8th place even at this early stage of the season. More disappointingly, after the draw with Monaco, we are now winless in 2 matches. Hope we will get back to winning ways in the next match against Liverpool !

I might be in a minority here (for a change), but I think we were a little lucky with our goals. If Lloris had let in either of the FK's i'd be pretty annoyed.

I get the feeling you're disappointed.

A game where you can come away seeing the glass half empty or half full. We created a lot more, conceded an OG, but relied on two fortunate free kicks to get a point.

A theme of our play so far is we can dominate games without winning them. Somehow the team need to be more canny, and force through results. It might come from developing a mentality. Its a young team and we are doing well but too many goals are conceded on the break and a more steely ruthlessness is required. But I'm with the glass half full outlook ultimately, after the midweek game, a young developing team, and a significant injury list.

I was thinking the same too. Thought a better goalie would have saved both the free kicks, especially the first one. Both the free kicks were very near the goalie. Credit to Eriksen for putting both the free kicks on target but he is capable of taking much better free kicks than these.

I guess having the fewest losses, best defense, longest unbeaten streak in the league, finally putting in good performances after EL games, and all that with a significant injury list doesn't mean squat to you. It's a shame really, because there's so much about this team you could be enjoying.

When we need a moan, we just gotta moan! Didn't see the game but an away point is always good news...also, could just be me, but has Pochetino's English in press conferences improved quite a lot recently? Last season I thought his English seemed very limited but he seems to be growing in confidence - perhaps he is just more relaxed because he can see that the team are playing well and have a lot of potential.
Looking ahead, I so so hope we beat the bindippers and send them, their fans and their new manager back home feeling very sorry for themselves.
