The Romanian defender arrived at the Azzurri training camp in Dimora on Tuesday was being put through his paces as part of a medical on Wednesday before a reported €6 million transfer from Tottenham Hotspur.
Sarri said he had bumped into the 25-year-old on his way to a news conference, and La Repubblica reported him as saying: "I only saw him play once six months ago and I know very little about him. But if he's been signed, it must mean he's got quality."
