Click it, you know you want to. :p

Whatever Lennon has become as a player I will be a little sad when he leaves. He's a link to 'the olden days' and it is sort of a passing of a generation.

There has been talk of an option to buy in the summer. Maybe dependent on them staying up?

Could very much be the point. My other thought was that perhaps we are letting this be broadcast in the hopes that someone comes in for him, thinking they have missed their chance.

10 years of service to our club. 10 years. I know he ain't gone yet but I think it's worth remembering how long he has been part of this club. The guy passed it to Crouch for the winner at Milan. He scored the equaliser in the 4-4. Going to miss the guy if he does leave.

364 appearances for the club and only 27. A great servant and was one of my favourite players over the past 10 years.
I loved him too at one time and was in Milan for his run and pass to Crouchie for 1-0. One of my favorite live moments. But the love affair is over and now I am just bored by him. He has lost his brio, sadly. And us a poor shadow of his former self. Would be sad to see him go, but probably in both parties interests now.

Disagree. Townsend's attitude, versatility and age give him a big advantage at this juncture.
Disagree. Lennon is more effective, look at the tracking back Townsend did on young Adams, oh sorry, he couldn't be bothered.
For his defensive fortitude alone Lennon is more effective than any of our dullard wingers or FBs.

I don't that that's a bad thing. I'd much rather have really driven players like Kane, Mason and Bentaleb, and am slightly pleased the last of our 'spice boys' is off.

I don't think anyone can argue that Lennon hasn't fulfilled the massive potential he had, and perhaps it's down to a lack of commitment bad/attitude as well as injuries and weak muscles. I will be upset if he goes as he's given me so many great memories over the years, but if it's best for the club then perhaps it's time.

HOWEVER. Given the number of games we have to play this season, competing in three competitions, if we are to let Lennon go without a replacement brought in then that's an absolute fudging fallacy of a decision. He hasn't hit top form for a while, but I've never seen Chadli, Townsend or Lamela look as good as Lennon in top form in English football. I can't recall any performances from Lennon I'd have given a 3 out of 10 or less, whereas I certainly have with each of the other three. He's a good option to have, and it's not like we're brimming with talented wingers, so even if he fudged Poch's daughter or something I still can't get my head around letting him go if nobody is coming in...
