Roberto Soldado

As one of the more vocal, all I've stated is that he offers more than Ade on current form. He deserves more league based on Ade's lackluster performances alone, but he didn't exactly hurt his case the way he performed against City.

I'm seeing a lot of attempts at downplaying it though. Don't know whether it's down to people not liking him or id they just want Ade to start instead.

Ignoring the whole first choice/second choice, league vs cup scenario, I want to see Soldado with the likes of Eriksen and Eriksen. Smart and skilful players. I think Ade is a much better foil for players like Lennon, Townsend and Paulinho. Playing Soldado with them behind him is a waste and renders us pretty much toothless, as we've seen in the EL games so far.

Two for the price of one, eh :D

Agreed on all points

I could have sworn I wrote Lamela.

Course you did....

I must say, your point about which squad players work best wit which strikers is interesting..

Kane looks like the one who could be the bridge between the two groups..

Totally agree with jordinho. Been saying this for weeks, there's a rapport, chemistry there with eriksen, Lamella and Soldado Ade doesn't have. I do wonder if changing Ade and chadli for Soldado and Kane might work. Ade and chadli seem to do well together.

I don't wish to nitpick but hen did you see this rapport before Saturday?

Last season when eriksen started coming in to his own. Also when tim was playing with Ade and Soldado up front.
They always seem to be on the same wavelength. To my eye Soldado and eriksen in particular gravitate towards each eriksen and Ade repel.

I don't think it's chemistry. I think it's wavelength. And it's not just Soldado and Lamela, but Eriksen and Chadli too. Compared to their deputies (Ade, Lennon, Paulinho and Townsend), there's just so much more footballing intelligence in our primary quartet.

I think a big part of the trouble with Soldado has been that he has played most of his games with Lennon and Townsend (autumn 13 under AVB and then in our cup team this season). You could see him stop making runs when he quickly twigged that Lennon and Townsend were never going to find him. Put some creative AMs with a bit of vision behind him like Eriksen and Lamela, and hopefully he remembers how to offer the devastating movement that he was so renowned for.

Sorry. I thought that you meant the front four had a chemistry

It was the most cohesive performance as an attacking unit since vdV and Modric left IMO.

Agreed. I actually saw understanding for once. Soldado is an extremely intelligent player. His confidence will be shot if he doesn't start against the barcodes.

Wait ade is a deputy now? When did this happen?
Who said he is? We're just a bunch of chancers offering an opinion on the internet.

My opinion is that players should be picked on merit. Based on Saturday's performance where I thought the front four played well, Soldado is the man in possession and should keep his place.

If his form dips or Ade rips up trees in midweek, the PL choice could change again.

Gutter boy said exactly that...would you like me to quote it for you?

What does that read to you Milo??

Not really. GB is entitled to his opinion, just as you, I and everyone else is but as none of us pick the team, it is not really of any relevance where we think players are in the pecking order.

So given that it is just a bit of fun speculating on how people think we would play best, why are you getting so het up?

Mate your first question was who said it (implying that nobody did). After i show you someone did indeed say it you now seem to have an issue with why i'm getting heat up (i assume that's what 'het' meant). Let's just leave it.
