Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

I see every time he has a bad game ADE is going to be the board scape goat in the most nasty way. It's really quite disgraceful.

Its all good. If you watch and read you can glean quite quickly in here who knows their stuff, who is objective, and who has agendas. Sometimes I wish some of the people that say the least would say the most and more often. Anyhoo, good result today, team effort, everyone played a part, and nobody should really get trashed. Yeah, right.

You're forgetting that this is a team in which most of the players had not won in 4 games and were short on confidence. I suspect the emphasis today was safety first, that is don't lose rather than go for the win. That affected our attacking play.

Fine, but that doesn't give him the excuse to just jog around and not press. He's not the worst player we've ever had by a long stretch, but he is without doubt the most frustrating.

You obviously know your stuff? Are you honestly happy with the performance he gave yesterday and his overall play and goals record this season? Just because we didn't lose doesn't mean that everyone played well, that goes for when we lose a game it doesn't necesarily mean everyone had a shocker. I seem to remember one poster constantly defending Adebayor during AVB's first season even when Bale had to carry us as Ade was scoring at a rate of about 1 in 6 games (think it was Onlyme) because we were winning games and in his view, that meant EVERYONE played well, that's a flawed opinion.

Is he our worst player on ability? No chance.

Does his work rate in general leave a lot to be desired? Absolutely.

Is he worth a place in the side when he's playing like this? No.

Should we look to upgrade in January? Definitely.

Sorry to sound like Stan Collymore asking and answering my own questions.

ADE for me is just not fit enough to play Pochs style. Yesterday was bad because he was also very isolated up front as the midfield and wide men stood off le'**** and let them come out.

If we are going to persist with one up top and high pressing we needed to sign someone like wellbeck, young athletic, runs around all day long if you ask him, pace to burn.

Worst of all as the game went on he struggled to keep the ball rom coming right back at us. At least Kane would have run around a bit and as a local lad would've been up for this game.

That said had mason found him with that cross ades rest of the game might well have been very different - he would've been very pumped after that.

Ade was good first half yesterday.

In what sense? I saw break out of a jog a handful of times. He fluffed the one chance he did get. Admittedly he got into the box and Mason didn't find him but I fail to see what he's offering us at the moment. Yes, I know Soldado didn't exactly rip it up last season, but I've more confidence in him or Kane than I do in Adebayor if a chance were to fall their way.

EDIT: Why does he only looked pumped up once in a blue moon. Everyone remembers that celebration at the Etihad, that's honestly the hardest I've ever seen him run.

A good first half in being a lazy **** yep... mastered that art down to a tee.

He wasn't lazy in the slightest and it's sad people don't/won't see it.

As i said before he had the beating of the 2 Goon cb's and made some extremely clever runs. If it wasn't for Lamela's atrocious pass he would have been away and it it wasn't for Mason's very bad cross he would have scored. The gooner backline was scared ****less in the first half and it was very noticeable (maybe not to spurs fans that don't rate him). He also ****ed up a v.good chance BUT it was his beautiful control that created it in the first place.

2nd half he was totally ineffective but that was down to the pressure they applied and the way we played as a team.

Mason didn't find him?

I thought the cross was hard and a good height for a player running to the near post while the keeper hung back.

And there we have it, Ade likes to lurk as well, then work up to a lope. If he can be bottle and glassed.

That's the biggest understatement i've ever read.

Don't worry your confidence for him will be gone when he misses sitter number 10 in his first 2 games.

All I can say is, I hope it isn't your dislike of Soldado that is clouding your judgement.

This must be a joke? the cross was garbage and went straight to the goalkeeper. You're actually blaming Ade for not getting on the end of that cross:ross:

He wasn't any worse than Adebayor was in 2012/13 when Bale had to carry us because Ade was so ****.

Have you forgotten all the sitters Ade has missed for Spurs? Case in point, last week vs WBA?

Mate - there was an instance when we were in attack and rather than run back on side he WALKED and when the ball came in or attempted to come in HE WAS STILL OFFSIDE and it was only a few yards away from the goal.

Listen, if you look at the match thread youll know I thought he would have had a good game and had a good feeling about him playing (benefit of the doubt and all that) but after that performance I want him ****in gone asap.

I've watched the first half twice (yes i'm sad) in it's entirety. I paid particular attention to Ade and Mason when watching and i can tell you that some of the comments about ade's first half performance on here is both comical and totally wrong.

It's one thing being offside by mistiming a run, it's unnacceptable to be standing in an offside position and not make it back in time. That's one reason why people think he is lazy. I don't know why every supporter of his previous clubs and most supporters of Spurs can see it but not you. 1 goal in 6 btw, hardly setting the world alight. How long do we stick with him before giving Kane a go?

That wasn't a sitter imo.

Soldado has missed gilt edged chances galore...this is a fact. The only goals he seems to score are instinctive goals but put him in a good goalscoring position and he'll more than likely miss (as evidenced by his spurs career). I gave him the benefit of the doubt when AVB was in charge because AVB played a brand of football that was not suited to Soldado (or anyone tbh) but after that? Soldado was turd water.

I don't care what every supporter of his PREVIOUS club feel tbh. Can he be lazy? yes. Was he lazy on the whole yesterday? absolutely not. He was good first half and not good second imo.

I would give Ade a few more games (maybe 2) and if he's still not scoring i'd try Kane.
