Roberto Soldado

1) He came with a big price tag because he scored plenty of goals in Spain, but mainly because we were about to inherit a huge windfall of cash from the Bale transfer so clubs now we had the money.

2) How many strikers actually create their own chances? Consistently? Most of them need service.

Did i say consistently? I'm not expecting him to create lots of goals on his own, but when we had Jermain ****ing Defoe playing for us I had more confidence that he would pull something out of the hat than I do in Soldado.

AVB didn't persist with him, He dropped him first chance he got in favour of Soldado and look how that turned out.

Why should we persist with Adebayor? Currently we shouldn't. Bar the Arsenal game, which is for personal reasons for Ade, I would be all for playing Harry Kane. Stick Adebayor and Soldado in the europa/cup games and let them fight their way back into contention. I don't think soldado will get there, whereas Ade might regain form.

We made an error in judgement in signing Soldado, it's easy to see with hindsight, but we can't go back and change it now.

But he got a chance when Sherwood was installed as manager. He never would have got that chance if Sherwood had the same line of thinking as what some are saying about Soldado. Adebayor had just as bad of a season in 2012/13 as Soldado did last season.

Wut?

When Timmeh took over he changed formation and went 4-4-2. So a second striker was included in the side, which meant Adebayor got recalled. The change in formation was the catalyst. Adebayor didn't suddenly replace Soldado.

It was a tactical decision by timmeh that got Adebayor back in the side.

So sure, if Poch decides to go 4-4-2 I could understand Soldado being recalled, maybe he'd have better luck in that system too. As long as Poch sticks with a single striker however..

Defoe scored 4 in a season once, we were happy with him.
Ade scored 5 in a season once, we're still happy with him.
Robbie scored 2, let's be happy with him, yeah?

That's not really the point. The point is he got another chance despite being horrific the previous season. Sherwood could just have easily have put Harry Kane up front with Soldado.

This is very funny. Soldado hasn't done it for us we know that. He's good enough to be given a chance based on his past in Spain. Ade is prem proven yes. He's done well for us in patches but he isn't consistent. I don't think he should be leading the line.

Most on here dont understand what Soldado is all about.

Our last 3 managers don't either, apparently. Or, maybe they do, and thats the problem.

Paying more money for a player doesn't turn them in to something they are not.

So why do people keep bringing up Ade's wages?

Let's stick with Adebayor for 38 league games who thinks he'd bag 15 goals? I doubt it highly.

He could score 30 and some still wouldn't like him.

Ade is inconsistent but Soldado is pure turd water. Ade is by no means clinical but in comparison to Soldado he's Aguero/Falcao esque.

Have people actually forgotten the sitters Soldado has missed in his spurs career? you can literally make a 3 minute compilation about it.

ade has missed his fair few.. some real shockers.

Guess the problem is that whenever any of our forwards do become consistent scorers they end up getting tapped up by ManU or Real Madrid, so we end up being stuck with infuriatingly inconsistent players like Defoe and Ade who are only able to top the league charts for offsides.

KD Mate, have you forgotten all the sitters Adebayor has missed? The time at Upton Park where he did an airshot and missed the ball  or in the same game when he missed a point blank headed from 4 yards out. Or the one on Sunday when he missed the ball, not the target, he missed the ball! Or that penalty miss with the comical run up against Basel?
